I wish I could give 5 Negative stars!!Before iOS 11 was released Square was good. I had just couple issues here and there but nothing mayor. Then iOS 11 arrived and Square became the worst POS solution for small-medium business. Their hardware started to have a lot of issues, the Square stand, the chip reader and the printer stopped working all together. If you contact Square support for help they will blame Apple for all the failures of their own Square hardware. Everybody knows developers have access months in advance to test their apps and hardware before a new iOS get release to the general public. Now if you visit Square Seller Community to look for answers to fix this, all you see is hundred of complains from business owners. Square Product Managers just are giving temporary solution to deal with this, like ¨take out the iPad from the stand, reset the iPad, etc. Meanwhile Square timing could not be better to release their own and new POS system, at the same time pushing their new system through an email campaign to us, the same frustrated business owners who are waiting for more than two months for a final solution. It has costed us time, effort and a lot of money, we have had spend many hours trying to fix this on our own, we had to explain to our customer over and over why the transaction take forever to complete, all this time and hassle and still not an apology or a word from the leadership at Square to us. Great app for small business, okay for friend to friendI absolutely love this app and I would recommend it to anyone who has a small business or more. It does a great job of organizing the transactions that take place throughout the business day, week, month, year, what have you, as well as helping to keep your books straight for tax purposes. The only thing I would complain about, and it is just due to my impatience, is the mere fact that the availability of funds from time of transaction to the time in which that money is accessible seems, to me, a little excessive. Now, yes. I understand that it’s electronic communication and banks have to talk with other banks to make sure the funds are transferred to the correct account from the correct account; so on and so forth but it just still seems to drag on. Especially when you’re in need of said funds immediately. This leads me to my last point with regard to the slow availability times. What is the point of an instant transfer if the money in which you will be transferring is tied up in limbo? Seems to me if it is only that easy to do an instant transfer in which you require a fee to use, why can we not access our incoming monies just as quickly considering a fee per transaction anyway. I love Square Point Of Sale!We are artists and have been doing art shows for over 40 years. We have used several different companies to process credit cards over the years and all of them have been complicated and expensive with a lot of paperwork and monthly fees until we discovered Square! It’s so easy with no monthly fees and you can do it anywhere! We recently opened a brick and mortar gallery in Inverness, Florida and bought their Point Of Sale system with iPad. I can keep track of inventory and sales and print reports. They allowed us to buy the register system with monthly payments and set up was super easy! I am about to add employees to it because they keep track of all that too! It also automatically adds sales tax if you want.
Emails have always been a problem for us...keeping track and sending them. With Square, they keep track of customers and I can send out a campaign in a few minutes with their templates! I can see at a glance which emails worked and who responded. I can work with the 80/20 rule and concentrate on the 20% of customers that are repeat buyers and buy 80% of my products.

Signing Up, Easy as 1,2,3I started with another popular company, their requirement were three proofs of Identification which took two days for verification, once approved, took 3 days for payout. I tested the link to customer for payment, it showed the customer my full name and bank account number 🤯🤯🤯. I had to request access to their virtual terminal which I was denied because I did not have enough sales, I was told I could request it at a later date after I have more activity on the account. This was tooo much, I needed access NOW. So I did more research and found Clover and SquareUp, Clovers upfront fees were not in my budget so I tried SquareUp, oh my goodness, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY what a BLESSING. I completed the signup, I was verified in minutes the virtual terminal is standard along with many other features. The main feature is I can use my iPhone for payment. Talk about a BLESSING!!! An excellent app and serviceTo begin, we have been using Square for almost 4 years. Over that time we have integrated square more and more into our business. We are happy to report that this has been a great decision. The app is always being updated and keeps getting the features that we ask for. All you have to do is email or call and tell their customer service department what features you really want to see in the future. Then sure enough in a month or two the very thing you asked for is added in or has some beginning resemblance of what you had asked for. Do not be deterred by the negative reviews. Most of them are people who have decided that the review section for the app is the best wY to ask a question to the support staff. Or they may be engaged in some kind of shady business that is prohibited by square.
On a different note their fees are strait forward and are completely out in the open compared to other merchant service companies.

Non-Existent Customer ServiceRecently signed up for Square and even ordered a Square card, only for my card to be suddenly removed and my account in a state of limbo due to a deactivation that I’ve received no notice for. When attempting to contact Square through multiple outlets such as phone/email (messaging was unavailable for my account), there was literally no way I could get in touch with a live agent regarding this issue. Everything is automated and you get no reply via email. Completely garbage service that I put in money for, and now I have no way of retrieving my funds from my account. Do not use until they actually put in a customer service team because clearly there isn’t one. This isn’t just a disgruntled user—I’ve again tried every method to get a response and in spite of this I have not received any communication whatsoever.

I love it!I have a small concession business and I was so surprised how many people come to sporting events without any cash in their pockets. I eventually got an iPhone and decided that I would try Square so that I could process credit cards. I am so blown away at how fast and easy it is to be able to take credit cards from my customers when they want to buy food from me. I think it also adds to my sales because some people would ordinarily not spend as much if they had to spend cash. One of the best things about it is it's affordability -no monthly fees and a very reasonable transaction charge. Set up was easy, the transactions run smoothly, and the day after my sales, I get an email telling me the amount of money that's been deposited into my account.

IssueI really like the Square payment app because of its great features and how convenient and easy it is to use. It works well for payments and makes transactions smooth overall.
However, I wanted to bring to your attention a few issues. The app does not allow some cards to tap for payment for unknown reasons when using Tap to Pay on iPhone. One major issue is that the app sometimes freezes the iPhone screen completely — nothing can be opened or closed, and even the popup cannot be dismissed. The only solution is to do a hard restart of the phone.

Terrible for small businesses/sole-proprietorsI downloaded square to be able to start accepting credit card payments, and in the very beginning they they were great however that soon changed. After my third sale they suspended my account and asked for more information in addition to what I had already provided. I immediately answered their questions and explained in detail what the nature of my business was (buying and reselling used items) and uploaded all the personal & financial documents they requested. Shortly afterwards I received a notification that they rejected my answers and will not be allowing me to transfer the funds I earned from my sales out of their app and told me my only option was to issue a refund to a customer who had already received and was in possession of the products I sold to him. I’m guessing from my experience that if you are an established business with large accounts I’m assuming you would have a better interaction with them, but if you are a smaller business that doesn’t do many sales and is just starting out, my advice would be to find another payment processor that wouldn’t mind working with a small business rather than square. As if small business owners don’t have enough to deal with, they will make the entire process of accepting debit/credit cards 10x more difficult than it needs to be by freezing the funds from your own sales and then will make you jump through endless hoops just to get access to your own money. 100% would NOT recommend!.Green veggieVersion: 6.7
Withholding my money for 90 days without explanationI know many people that use square and like it my experience wasn’t so good I got everything all set up no problem, took my first payment than after that I couldn’t transfer my money. I received a notification saying that I had more setup that needed to be done so I went through the 11 step set up questions/ info that they asked for shortly after that I received an email said that my setup was submitted successfully and it would take 2 days to review. 4 hours later (on a Sunday) I received an email saying that my account was deactivated with no explanation why, so I called them the next day to try to figure out why and all they could tell me is they couldn’t support my business. I did some research to see if anyone else had this issue and apparently it fairly common. So I called again the next day to try to get it figured out and get my money that they are holding and got the run around I ended up talking with someone in account services and she couldn’t tell my why it was deactivated, they only thing she would say is I could refund the payment and ask for a check from the customer (who requested payment by credit card) she repeated herself 4 times and than hung up the phone on me while I was asking her a question. DeactivatedI am a young adult with kids. Bought a coffee concessions stand. I’ve been so excited to start a career for myself and my family. As most know starting out a business is a huge financial burden. My account was flagged and I’m confused why. I just will be selling coffee. Disgusting, shameful service, don’t use square ever if you’re a small business.As a sole proprietor and small business owner of two successful business businesses, I’ve been in business combined close to two decades. Never once had a problem. never used any other credit card service other than Square and was completely faithful. Recently, out of the blue, I had a client reverse credit card charges three weeks after purchase. No warning, no call, no complaint, nothing. they sent me an email notification at like 2 o’clock in the morning on a Monday morning, which, of course I didn’t get until I got out of bed. Outside of business hours nothing I could do. Talk about a company screwing you. I had checks that bounced, incurred bank overdraft fees, and had my credit damaged as a result of this. Choose another processing companyThis company had worked well for me in the past even though I had multiple issues with them. But this past week has been the absolute worst. Not only did they put a hold on my account and all of my funds due to me changing my bank account which I can do at my own discretion at any time but they did not contact me to ask if I made the changes before freezing my account nor did they inform me of these actions. Horrible Customer ServiceI love love love the square app it’s easy to create invoices. The customers can see all the charges and details and pay easily as well. However, their computer system has locked my account twice now to check information for fraud. This would be a good feature except both times they have locked it on a weekend day and they won’t even discuss it with you until Mon-Fri and then you gotta wait another 48hrs for them to review the details. I travel for work transporting across the whole US. All of my customer payments are in my square account that’s how I fund my gas to drive to the next customer and eat etc. they locked my account and stranded me over 1,000 miles from home with another persons pet that I was transporting for 4 days. For 4 days I was stuck in a travel stop parking lot eating chips and listening to a Whitney pet because they were miserable and ready to get home. I simply responded with that. The online platform I used to use went out of business and I decided to try this on my own And one of the folks I worked with asked if he can charge his credit card. I don’t recommend, try finding alternative processing systemI have family members willing to pay for services because they want to support me and my business. My funds transfer was suspended because a suspicious transaction. I understand why so I called and explained I haven’t work due to pandemic but this is my first big gig since pandemic and I needed transaction to go through so I can complete the service this weekend which requires travel. The representative explained even if I talked to a supervisor, authorizing my transfer of funds to my bank would still go against policy (apparently square wants you to provide free services for family members or they want you to charge them through alternative methods ie cash app or PayPal) why have a payment service just to have to sign up through another one specifically to charge family members? The representative also said to advise my client to pay via bank... so you want me to force my client to pay up front with a bank card instead of paying with a credit card which they can then pay at their leisure? I get what they are trying to prevent but I explained my situation and even offered proof of my business, no go they said a sup will call but even if they called the sup won’t authorize transaction. Do not use this service for your businessMy property maintenance firm does not do a lot of credit card transactions per year. I recently bought stock in square and decided to use their credit card services. Yesterday, a large customer of mine paid me over $12,000 in four separate invoices with his visa through Square. Square sent me an email that vaguely said I had violated their user agreement, without saying how, and stated that their review found transactions that were in acceptable without even bothering to tell me which ones. Square demanded that I refund the customer even though they had charged him the full purchase amount. This started at 11 pm last night. I replied back to the email they sent but I was sent an automated response that wouldn’t read reply emails through that channel. I logged into Square to get a customer service phone number only to see a message that my account had not been approved for telephone support. You cannot reach someone by phone at their office. I sent an email detailing the transactions and providing the customers contact number. After that I went digging online to see if anyone else had a similar problem with Square. What I found on the Better Business Bureau web site and other related sites was terrifying. Business owner after business owner detailed their horror stories of Square randomly rejecting transactions and even freezing funds for weeks and months a time. Could be good could be badI used this service and app for a personal account service. To get paid for side jobs in a way I thought was more of a convenience to my customers being able to pay with a card over cash New day and age right? I would eat the processing fee’s to make a happy customer. until my account was frozen and put under review after receiving a couple hundred dollar payment. If your using this for personal use not business make sure you mark it as “miscellaneous goods” not “miscellaneous services” or anything else because even though you set it up as an individual, personal, non business account if you get “suspended” and “under review” it says 1-2 business days it took me more like 10 to finally even get to talk to someone who told me what I should do besides send me and email or a link in our chat to fill out a form that doesn’t even work correctly i.e. uploading documents. Very aggravating and frustrating that’s for sure. Because you don’t want to take anymore payments that way Incase they close your account you don’t have to go explain to your customer why they need to pay again and provide a refund and refund receipt(that’s the easiest part, especially if they have an email address) the whole “under review”/“suspension” can be drug out by square as long as they want. My Money On Hold For 90 Days For No Reason !I got everything all set up no problem, took my first payment than after that I couldn't transfer my money. I received a notification saying that I had more setup that needed to be done so I went through the 11 step set up questions/ info that they asked for shortly after that I received an email said that my setup was submitted successfully and it would take 2 days to review. 4 hours later (on a Sunday) I received an email saying that my account was deactivated with no explanation why, so I called them the next day to try to figure out why and all they could tell me is they couldn't support my business. I did some research to see if anyone else had this issue and apparently it fairly common. So I called again the next day to try to get it figured out and get my money that they are holding and got the run around I ended up talking with someone in account services and she couldn't tell my why it was deactivated, they only thing she would say is I could refund the payment and ask for a check from the customer or cash. Just another greedy companyI’ve used square for a little over 2 years and have loved it! I told everyone about it, suggested it to everyone I knew opening small businesses. It really seemed like a “for the small guys” sort of company. That is until I got my husband to sign up and they claimed they randomly selected him for a review and held his money for his first job. The chat support was rude about it but he figured he’d wait it out. That was until the next day he got a “we need more information from you” notification claiming they needed a bunch of information, some of which didn’t even apply to his business. He called support who was extremely rude and disrespectful, raised their voice at him, talked over him and hung up on him. I was sitting next to my husband the entire time and he didn’t raise his voice or get rude with them once. So why was customer support so disrespectful? Inconsistent and poorly guidedSo square is pretty good overall. But there are some really frustrating things that to meare just unacceptable. At a recent trade show, when trying to activate tap to pay on the phone, it would just error out and say tray again later. I kept trying because I left my reader at home, and I needed it to work. Finally when I get back, I contacted square and find out it needs to be activated on the main persons phone on their account. Some thing they could have easily said in the app to make sure I didn’t waste time and possibly lose customers. Also, setting things up like printers etc is always more convoluted than necessary, and when logging back into an iPad to a register set up that hasn’t been used in a while, even if that printer and iPad combo has been used before, it needs to be set up again and it doesn’t always remember settings. I am hoping the new modes works better, but again, these are things that can be done better, especially about tap to pay. Horrible experienceI have a baseball team I run and we wanted a way to process credit cards. We advertise for our sponsors and had a business want to use a corporate card. I sent in all kinds of verification information, got confirmation and then put through our first order with one of our major sponsors. I then get an email that the account is deactivated, Square took 3.5% and the only service we received was deactivating the account and froze the rest of our funds. In the meantime I’ve invested money to create banners and advertising so I’m out that money on top of creating a bad experience for our sponsor as well. Then I call an 800 number that puts you in a loop…. Press 1…does nothing, etc. You can’t actually talk to someone. So as of now Square has our sponsorship money, charged a fee to deactivate my account, cost me hundreds more in advertising cost now we’re out of pocket for and ruined our relationship with our sponsor. If they were to look me up on the drivers license I sent in or on broker check they would find I’m a Compliance Manager for a major bank in one of the heaviest regulated industries in the world. Square destroyed my lifeWith no warning square put a hold on my account not allowing money to transfer. Despite having a legitimate business tax ID ROC number employer identification number zero complaints of the ROC you’re better business bureau or any or any fraudulent activity made it impossible for me to access the money that I had ran on the card which is to reimburse me for materials I have already purchased on the job. Because I cannot access this money I am being pulled off of a remodel but I’ve been working on for months I’ve had an employee quit and I am going to lose well over $100,000 in commissions that I was supposed to get on this job. Worse Company I’ve Ever Came AcrossAt first, I was really starting to get excited about working with different companies to create a seamless process for both me and my customers. The ability to have multiple payment options and payment resources was awesome. However, since I’ve signed up I’ve been running into nothing but issues with Square. I have literally done nothing wrong at all! I have an official registered business with a business tax ID. I created an invoice for a service I provided to my guest and square is holding my funds after I’ve given literally everything they’ve asked me for. Without any explanation they’re holding my funds, suspended my account then deactivated after I’ve done everything they asked me to do. App Update Causing Issues, Features Still LackingNewest update has some nice features, but it is causing some issues. The first issue I’m coming across is that I am unable to add inventory to a new item I created. Keeps giving me an error and says to check my network connection, however, I am connected to our network so this should not be an issue. Item exists on our iPad (where I created it), but does not show up on our Square register, nor does it show up online. I also see that I no longer have the option to create a separate checkout link on an item.
Please work through and address bugs / issues. In addition, one thing we would love to see is to be able to set a pricing structure on a single item. For example, if a customer purchases/orders Qty 1 of an item, they receive it at “X” price, but if they purchase Qty 12 or more, they get a price break and receive the item at “Y” price.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICEMy account was deactivated for something that I was wrongfully accused of doing. Someone filled a dispute saying they didn’t authorize the $200 transaction (2 months after the transaction) square TOOK $200 from my bank account and closed my account (that was only my second dispute in 2 years with them and the first dispute was settled in my favor). Here we are almost 4 months later after I started using another site for my business, and finally I get an email that says “the $200 dispute was decided in your favor” I thought... well finally. Makes sense because the idiot that did the dispute lives across country but claimed they never even made the payment (like how the heck could I make a payment on behalf of you when the invoice was sent to your email) but anyway they decided in my favor... Took my money!I’ve been using Square for seven years, never had a problem with anything. I had a fraudulent charge attempted on my card after putting seven dollars worth of gas in my motorcycle, A scammer tried to draw 300 and square stopped it. I actually talked to a human, and they said they’d send me another card. The representative said they were putting a block on my account so I couldn’t lose any money, but that means you can’t contact the company either, if they block you on your card, that blocks you from corresponding with them as well. They wound up sending me three new cards and a new card to the criminal who tried to steal my money. Now, they have $500 of my money they’re holding and will not let me transfer it to my bank, nor will they let me use Apple Pay or speak with anyone. Worst customer service anywhere! OptometristI have been on Square for seven years. They are pretty efficient about depositing the funds daily into your account. One thing I absolutely hate is they have no US base customer service. Occasionally, if someone disputes a charge Square automatically takes the funds back without even giving you a chance to dispute the problem. Then it can take over three months for them to make a decision and possibly put the funds back into your account. This recently happened to me. After 3 months of waiting square said that the funds never should’ve been taken out of my account and that they were going to put them back into my bank account. They said it may take up to two business days to process. It has been over three days and they still have not deposited the funds into my account. After being on the phone and on hold for over an hour and a half talking to representatives in Guatemala with broken English, I got nowhere. They kept seeing they needed to talk to someone higher up. this led nowhere except for except for being hung up on. Square customer service is absolutely horrific. Was a loyal customer for years…I have used Square for my nonprofit since 2016, and then my crochet business since 2022. I decided to start another small business doing custom fitted jewelry in September of 2023, only to have it deactivated with no reason in Nov 2023. When I called to try and find out what was going on, they told me they would escalate to Account services. Not nice, not twice but 3 separate times I had account services contacted only for them to do absolutely nothing and say that the decision to close my account was final and it wouldn’t be reinstated. The first person said “it might be because of using the same email address to have two different accounts” nope wrong there. Then another for “potential fraudulent activity” nope try again. Third was after I had taken to social media to call out the company and gain insight from friends on other more reputable companies to work with. A Square rep on instagram reached out to see if they could look further. They didn’t look further than Account Services again. And then had the audacity to say that they “went further than any other agent” after spouting the EXACT SAME INFORMATION I had already been told and didn’t need to hear again! THEY REACHED OUT TO ME this last time. Not the other way around. They are holding my money HOSTAGE for “90 days” from deactivation. I’ve heard horror stories from others after they did this to me who have lost so much worse than I. But we shouldn’t be losing ANY money to them than we already are because of their fees!

Worst CC Processor EverI honestly can not stress enough how terrible this app and site is. I will never use this site or app again. Nor will I recommend it to anyone, EVER! I signed up for square a few days ago to process my CC payments. The first time I manually entered a card, everything was fine. The next day I woke up and had an email from them that stated I needed to verify some information on my account in order to be able deposit money into my bank account. So I verified the information, submitted my bank statements, business information, ID, and passport info, as well as an invoice for the payment I took the previous night. All that information was verified by square and my account was back up and running within several hours. That same night I took another CC payment and entered it in manually again. It proceeded to tell me that my money could not be deposited because my account was under review again. Twice in one day, even after I submitted all the required documentation and was cleared. I then contact Square and a lady over the phone assured me that she was incredibly sorry and that my account was flagged by a separate department. She said that she would expedite the process and I should be cleared by the end of the day. A few hours later I was cleared again. I successfully deposited the money into my account, and I thought that everything was fine. Well a few hours later I received an email that my account was deactivated for no reason at all, after being cleared twice. So now I can no longer process CC payments at all. I’ve used square before and I liked it so I started using square for a small side business with my Etsy so I could do in person orders and transactions. The first time I went to identify myself and my bank information I double checked it all and it told me I wasn’t able to be identified. I emailed them and didn’t hear anything back. I looked online and they gave me a bot/automated responses to talk to and then when I got a real person they copied and pasted exactly what I had already read online and told them I couldn’t do. Beware Holds for 90 daysI got Square to be able to take credit cards where my Etsy shop couldn’t help me in making sales. I had a sale over $1,000 and they held my money (I was told for a period no less than 90 days) and they closed my account for no reason. I had submitted all the information about my sale and they said they could not support my store even though I had never had a problem before. I tried to contact costumer service to talk to someone to just get answers and the customer service is nonexistent. I called the number and was pretty much told to go f myself the lack of care they put into their customer service. Not even an explanation. I do these things all the time with Etsy, what was the problem doing it when Etsy is integrated with square? Not only did this screw up my sale, but now they have made my bank account negative by withdrawing money they have no right to take from me. They cancelled my account and the customer wanted their money back and I couldn’t even issue a refund so the customer did a chargeback with their bank. Quick and Easy but...This app is great for transactions and selecting your products, but it lacks a few things. 1. The customer list is not available if you are not connected to the internet. You can still take payments but it records them as payment by “Square Customer” and does not attach their payment to the customer information. This is a problem when you import your transactions into another program like quickbooks. 2. When you download transactions to quickbooks the product information does not come through, only the category information. 3. It does not automatically reconnect to my iPhone personal hotspot when I use that as my internet connection. I have to go into settings and turn off WiFi and turn it back on several times. If they would just put the customer list on the device like they do the product list, it would be much better. Seems like a simple fix but for whatever reason they have not done it even though suggested many months ago. 4. There are also no normal transaction numbers. Instead of a regular number for each transaction it gives a long string is letters and numbers mixed with capital and lower case letters. “Ghost “PaymentsI have a customer that pay with debit card I got the payment the app was giving me a confirmation of the customer payment….. 2weeks later customer come back to pay “again” because he noticed that the payment was not reflected in his bank account. I check in my system and there was no payment found for this customer. Even in my bank account it doesn’t appear. I never NEVER check to confirm that all the payments are really in my bank. I been using square for 7 years and I don’t know that this can happen. Also I made invoices from month before the appointment (I got deposits) for the customers and at the time that customer come to pay I don’t see the invoice payment reflected in the transactions area. Also this can be inconvenient if I want to track ALL the payments received in the day. Small BusinessAt first I loved square my first transaction was great. Then the second. Then I decided hey I wanna do an instant transfer which almost all businesses and payment places allow. EXCEPT SQUARE!! If you don’t get 50-70 transactions you only have 1-2 business day transfers which takes forever sometimes even longer than that. You guys should really think about lowering that because not everybody is going to make that that quick. And I’m stuck using them cause the website I use is connected to them. Worst customer service, glitchy appGo with PayPal instead. They may have a higher processing fee, but it’s worth it over Square’s nightmare of an experience. I wanted to use this for selling at a craft fair but could not get the card reader to accept card payments in the app (kept getting a glitch where a window would pop up asking me to order more hardware even though I had the hardware already). I emailed square, Facebook messaged them, and tried calling them. I also tried posting in the community message system but there was a glitch there too that didn’t allow you to ask questions. Go to their Wikipedia page, you’ll see that their phone system is fully automated (no live help). When dealing with people’s money, you should not make customer service so stressful and impossible to access. I can’t believe this company is so successful with how awful my experience was with them. If you don’t believe me, get your free card reader with square and PayPal and see which is easier to set up. No reason to only try Square and wait forever for it to fail.

Withholding Money, No Access to Customer SupportAfter 2+yrs of business they randomly started withholding all of my money claiming I need to verify my identity. No notification, I just realized my bank account was not receiving my money. After digging through my square account, I finally realized Square was a withholding money because they wanted me to “verify” my account. After submitting the information they requested I waited another week. They then sent me a notification requesting more information, including access to my bank account to “verify” my balance and transaction history. I then submitted the information and was told I had to wait until it was reviewed and approved. I then tried calling customer support after I submitted the information. I went through several different prompt menus with no access to a representative until I repeatedly pushed zero. Once I finally spoke with a representative they just told me my account was under review. I tried everything on my own trying to figure why and how to fix this. I tried fixing my information thinking that i might have something in wrong. i thought that it might be my card swiper but when i logged in on another phone and tired there’s it was still the same problem. So finally i figure out how to contact square and talk to someone on the phone. The lady was so rude and couldn’t help me at all. I told her that I’d tried multiple times to edit my account information and she told me that since i had done that square won’t be able to fix the problem. To confirm i said so i won’t be able to ever use square and accept payments and she said that’s correct. I asked her if she could tell me why, or what i did that made my account do this and she couldn’t give me any explanation at all. Worse payment app DONT GET ITI applied for the square app and they said successful didn’t ask for any other verification but when a client sent two payments they would not let me transfer it to my account but they did charge the client..... they wanted all kinds of verification before I could deposit it into my account and when I went through with the process there system wasn’t saving my information.... so I tried to refun the client and before I clicked refund it said it would be refunded in one business day..... it’s been three business days and the client did not receive their money so I called square and now they are saying 7/14 business days.... not only that but they took out money from my bank account which was the first payment the client made but they never let the money go into my account.... Their lack of security welcomes hackers to steal your deposits then they do nothing about itI used to love this app. I have been a loyal and very profitable customer of square for almost five years. I recently ran a transaction and realized the money was going to someone else’s account!! This was VERIFIED through square, I was never notified about any changes made to my account, someone taking every single square deposit FOR TEN MONTHS, but yet it was still verified. I have called the helpline over 50 times in four days desperately trying to get answers on how to solve this problem and crickets. I am constantly getting hung up on before I even speak to someone, getting the busy tone, or just given silence after I press “1” I have spoke to atleast 7 “humans” (bots?) and they have given ZERO INSIGHT on this entire situation. They just keep saying call the help line but the help line IS NOT REAL. THERE IS NO HELP LINE. NO ONE CARES. I am missing out on THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF SECURITY AND NEGLIGENCE. I used this company since day one and never had a problem until 2021. I’m assuming this company was recently sold to someone who doesn’t care at all about their customers. DeactivatedI’m a wedding photographer and I usually do all my payments through Venmo, PayPal, Google pay, or Apple Pay for the past 2 years. But 2 weeks ago I got to different clients that wanted to pay with their cards so I decided to make a square account and have them pay through that! It was super easy to set up and with in minutes I was able to have the customers pay through the square app via link I sent them! They both paid me and the total ended up being 1350 and I tried transferring it out after a few days but they deactivated my account and put a hold on my money for 90 days!!!!!!! I tried giving them all the information they needed to verify I am a real photographer but instead of trying to figure things out with me and see what’s going on they just send an email so your account is deactivated and this final and toWait 90 days for your money or refund it back it to the people you charged. I’ve been receiving an error message at login ever since I switched phones, so I am unable to get into the app at all. Meanwhile apologizing to all my clients for not being able to take cards currently. So I search through my old email records to find when I had successfully talked to Support once before, and send a message to that address explaining my situation, giving all the required details, asking for help. Beware: Square’s Account Holds and Poor Support Could Disrupt & Kill Your BusinessI’m extremely disappointed with Square’s handling of my account. After using their services for my business, they suddenly deactivated my account without warning, claiming they couldn’t support my business needs. Even worse, they’re holding onto my funds for 90 days, which makes it impossible for me to access the money I need to fulfill services for customers who have already paid. This leaves both me and my customers in a difficult position, as they think their payments have been processed while I have no way to cover my costs or offer refunds.
Square’s decision has disrupted my business operations, and this is not the first time in 2 - 3 years, matter of fact go check their PR on YouTube it’s disgusting, thier lack of transparency or flexibility in this situation feels unfair. Zero Respect for PrivacyI do not use point of sale hardware from Square - I do however have an online Square store. While this app works great to keep an eye on online store transactions and receive notifications, the app will not allow you to access ANY features without: Bluetooth, Location, Local Network, and Microphone access permissions.

ON FIRE! Probably changing to CloverFurious! I run a business where I get business’ hooked up with technological solutions. I have over 50 clients that use squareup POS. And now MANY OF THEM who chose to use a standard printer are being screwed over. They can no longer print their reports from their ipads. You would think this not to be the biggest issue although most of these clients tends to be old and don’t own any other devices capable of rendering a desktop version of their website. Now I have to tell my clients that barely need printouts to buy a receipt printer for near $300CAD………. I won’t do that. The rule is easy “ONCE YOU PROVIDE IT, YOU CANNOT TAKE IT AWAY” if you do take it away you better be willing to take a hit as well. Regardless of if my clients have issues with the most recent update or not I will be leaving them. You only get 2 stars because you were decent for 10 years and in the last two years it’s just: “GIVE ME YOUR MONEY GIVE ME YOUR MONEY OR WE WILL MAKE IT HARD TO USE OUR SOFTWARE THAT YOU ONLY USED BECAUSE IT WAS EXTRA SIMPLE”. And for anyone that defends this behaviour keep in mind that they had to INTENTIONALLY go out of their way to make sure other printers don’t receive the right data in order to print. Horrible Customer ServiceI downloaded the app as it was recommended to me and immediately it was put under review and deactivated. When reaching out to customer support I was told there was no way to reapply and to maybe try another company. No explanation and no help. Just flat out rejection for no reason. I asked as to why it was deactivated upon JUST setting up and I was told they would create a help ticket to get some answers and see what they could do next. After a week of no communication I contacted them again and gave my reference code. Again they asked what the problem was and upon answering that I was told no further information will be given and promptly hung up on. Terrible service. Not recommendedNo help at all. Customer service staff doesn’t know anything and is not able to help you out. We made 20k transaction from my customer and have been waiting for 5 business days for it to be completed. We were informed that we needed to upload some documents. Why you just don’t send an email or inform us about it? Do we have to call for every single thing?
In the meantime, they took their cut already which is $660. So why you’re still holding the money?
This situation puts me in rush, disrupts my work and for sure my customer is unhappy and worried about her money!
