I really enjoy the improvements made to this app lately. A few things I wish could be corrected is in your inventory tab. It would be nice to be able to share that or print it. It would also be awesome if you could use this app with Apple CarPlay, or even an Apple Watch.
Peace of mind. I do not have to worry about losing my Red Setters, in the woods when hunting. I also enjoy looking at the distance the dogs ran that day. Also how far I walked. This is good technology, which makes Quail hunting with my dogs more enjoyable.
Software is easy to use and maps are good
Love everything Garmin. I have had fishing equipment to bird dog collars and watches. Costumers service is second to none.
I would give this maximum review if this would work on apple Carplay

Garmin Alpha Negative Reviews and Ratings
Give user the option to make corrections directly from the app. Also make it easier to switch between Bluetooth devices or better yet give the user the option to connect multiple devices at once
The Garmin Explorer apps lets you display tracks which helps to show unmarked trails or other map functions. The explore app also USED to let you track your dogs from the compatible Alpha tracking box. Why this app was ever created in the first place I’ll never know. A great app (the old explore app) lost part of its functionally to make the Garmin Alpha app. Now you have two apps both with partial functionality when the original explore app used to do everything the alpha app does and more. If I could give this Zero stars I would as it has no purpose. Now that the new version of explore was released my alpha box will pair with either the alpha app - or all of Garmin’s other apps (Tread, Explore, Messenger). The only one however that you can track on - is the Alpha app. Horrible update and app from Garmin’s app development team and as always they like to drop a new version mid hunting season that doesn’t work
The new update is terrible. The tracks won’t clear now. So when you track your dog at home or a place you frequent regularly you just get a map filled in with black lines. Garmin makes great hardware, but they’ve always been trash in the software department. I’m actively looking to move to a different hardware company that provides useable software for their products. I can only recommend Garmin if you don’t need software support for your device.
I have had a 200i for a while and was prompted to update to the Alpha ap in my phone instead of using Explore. Significant let down. Sync takes forever, you can do folders and collections in order to play back handler and dog at the same time. Nothing shows up in the map from saved tracks. It’s awful. Expecting to revert back to the Explore ap shortly unless all if that functionality is pulled into the Alpha.
Map only has the option for north always up needs a option for arrow always pointing up and map to spin the way your driving like the handheld drive track and tread. Would make this app 5 star
Green screen is all I get when I choose satellite. I used to get Satellite with the Explorer App, but even after updating the Alpha app tonight, I get a stupid green screen & still have no idea where my dog is on my property. Two weeks ago they said they were working on it. Wonder how long it takes to get it fixed or if it ever will be fixed!
Would like to see you add yards in the app every thing else seems to be good
I love garmin. But this app is lacking significantly. The only saving grace is the alpha lte’s ability to connect to cell towers, which is great. It doesn’t help though if the app is horrendous. There are free apps out there that work off your cell phone’s tracking gos service that blow this app out of the water.. what is going on with the app software developing team on this one??
Sadly the new update brought upon some adverse changes as per usual with any Garmin update. They can’t seem to get software figured out. Now when tracking a dog you don’t get to see distance, heading, or name on the map you just follow the tip of a line around.
Doesn’t track the handheld most of the time. Dog tracking lags making tracking inaccurate. I unpaired the handheld to try to correct some problems and now it won’t pair with no explanation. After buying an iPad and spending over 7 grand on a 300i and sixteen TT25s, I can’t use a simple app. Ridiculous.
I bought a alpha 200i as well as a collar.. after spending $1000, I’ve realized you don’t always get what you pay for. The alpha hand held constantly crashes and turns off. It isn’t reliable. This app does not work at all either.
Need to be able to change distance units to yards instead of feet to match the handheld.
Please add yards as an option
I just received my Alpha 10 remote and collar in the mail this morning. I have spent over 2 hours today trying to get the remote to pair to the app and it will not work. I have followed all of the trouble shooting suggestions.
Took the option away to track my dog with a TT25 Collar what a useless app why would you take that function away garmin? Your app is horrible and you have some explaining to do to every unhappy customer
I can tell where my dog is on the map. That’s awesome and all I really need. None of the hunt features or track recording seems to work. All distances and metrics are very wrong
Very disappointing… the old explore app worked perfect and allowed me to merge my fenix 7 and 200i. This hasn’t worked… doesn’t allow me to see my data… won’t easily connect to my alpha. Had a hunt today and can’t merge data.
App needs the option to view a saved track on the live map like the explore app does. Please add this feature in future updates.
Ever since I downloaded this my hand held wont connect, the explore app was way better, but very typical of garmin to try and improve something and screw it up, if dogtra comes out with a handheld garmin will be left in the dust
I would give a zero if I could. This app has a hard time even pairing with my Alpha 300i. When it finally does pair it won’t sync. Pretty useless. I’ve tried Garmin explore the same thing.
They have broken the app for me. It now shows where my alpha is on app. Does not show any of the 5 dog collars any more. I know where the remote is it is on me! Where are my dogs?? Please fix the ap!!
Maps are not current, device (Alpha LTE) constantly and continuously disconnects from app. App itself is not user friendly. Shame on Garmin- such a good brand, but tremendously lacking in this dept
Unable to view any data from my Alpha 10 on the map. Can see the device is connected and synced but the map is not showing the handheld or my dog.
Need option to save tracks on map. Not limit to minutes or hours. You have this on Explore
I was hoping for much more from Garmin. I run my dog in the open Arizona desert everyday and the app may work 20% of the time. Hope Garmin can produce an app that is more consistent.
Glitchy and not an intuitive interface. And that it doesn’t support Apple Watch is just silly. Pair with Apple Watch!
This app update ruined my Hunt. None of my gear works. The ISO update is absolutely worthless. I want my money back, fix the freaking problem.
The app needs to have notifications when dog barks or trees it’ll only alert you on the handheld
Terrible, terrible terrible please bring back version four.
Same as comment above
Please add watch app.
Explorer is twice the app. The map is missing a lot of trails and streams.
I have a I iPhone 14pro and when you go to pair Bluetooth to my 200i the device ask to pair you hit continue and instantly pops up says connection failed try again and then wont even find it when you try again as if the Bluetooth isn’t turned on ready to pair. Grabbed my old android phone out the drawer loaded up the app singed in and paired instantly just as it should. Must be a bug in the iOS app please fix soon
Constantly won’t keep a bluetooth, cant get maps to download successfully.
