My son with autism can use this appI want to say this to anyone who will read this I am so so EXTREMELY!!!!!happy that this Roku remote application was created.. my disabled son(autistic 26 year old) had an extremely bad day a couple weeks back and he couldn’t get the remote to his Roku to cooperate...so what does my wonderful understanding loving son do he throws the Roku remote at his television.. well the television survived the remote did not. Afterward I explained to him that the remote was not fixable well he was very upset with himself and the inability to use the Roku in his bedroom.. so What does any mom do when she sees her sons heart breaking I went online to buy a new remote well what I found was that for the price of a new remote I might as well get him a new Roku or an inexpensive Roku I knew he would not be happy with a new one because it would not be his Roku and my sone he does not do well with changes in his life. so Later that day I went through the apple store Applications just to see if There was anything and I mean anything i could use for this unusable device (at this moment it was unusable because I would not give him the remote to my Roku) Well to my surprise I found a Roku remote application. I was so extremely happy I think I actually cried because the thought that I could download the remote onto his cell phone and I knew that’s remote issue like this wouldn’t happen again because not only does he carry his cell everywhere he has never scratched dented or dropped his cell so I knew this was going to be a great thing. so I downloaded the Application I showed him how to use the app ( it took about an hour or two)(as David Bowie and I both said before CHANGES!!!!) and after teaching my son how to use the phone remote we’ve not had a Single issue of throwing the cell phone (ie.. Roku remote)..so what I want to say to everyone involved with the creation of this application a huge thank you not only have you all saved the day but you saved my pocketbook.. Originally I found the products reliable and user friendly and when I had issues customer service was a phone call and a five minute fix. Now days it seems things have changed, for example: if you have need for technical support, you will not find a phone number for tech-support, in fact, you will end up on the website with a technical chat advisor and before they connect you with someone that can”help” you with your technical issues you will have to provide payment information. I believe that Roku has gotten a bit greedy and buyers need to be where purchasing their television sets might limit your freedom of choice when it comes to streaming outside of your Roku subscription, which the way things are going, they’re almost pressuring you to have to use your new TV. RokuThis app is very good, but after you use it for a while, I don’t know if this is just for my phone, but it stopped working as good as it used to and it wouldn’t let me use the app. It would just say you need to be connected to Wi-Fi, but I already had my full bars and if you don’t know, what bars are there are the little things at the top of your screen that tell you how much your app has battery and it was working I was connected to the Internet and it would still say you need to come close to your TV I put my phone directly on the TV not just close on the TV and it still wouldn’t work so I’m still trying to get the word that the app to work but if this happens to you guys too make sure that you delete the app and read download it because that’s the best way it’s been working for me but yeah overall it’s a pretty good app. It’s just lag sometimes so you just need to be flexible with this app💖.Roku is okVersion: 1.7.11

It’s Good, But…The app works well, and doesn’t require money just to control your TV unlike other apps. And to be honest, you really don’t need to pay for the premium remote unless you really hate ads, want to immediately go to an app, or use the touchpad or keyboard. But that’s my problem actually. When you press just a couple of buttons, there’s always an ad. Also, I think there should be more offers for the premium remote like voice commands (but this could also just be built-in), but there’s also been complains about it saying how people haven’t received the premium benefits. Device rename feature??I love this app, it’s so smooth (I actually can’t recall it ever skipping or glitching or anything like that) and convenient... TCL VS OTHERSI purchased a high dollar tv at one of the big box retail stores, when I got it home it didn’t work and you had to be a rocket scientist to operate the remote. After several hours of confusion and not knowing what to do with it, I boxed it up and took it back to point of purchase. While there I bought the same size tv a TCL brand, which they tell me is a off brand. I had out the box and hung on the wall in minutes. It has the user friendliest remote I’ve ever encountered and with a 4K UHD set, every picture is crisp, clear and just a joy to watch. If I’m the market for a new tv I highly recommend the TCL brand. Area to ImproveDownloaded this like most others after breaking my original remote. After first downloading for free I found it quickly necessary to purchase the app because using your remote to change the channel from an advertisement, just to get another advertisement on your remote was quite annoying. The $2.00 purchase was definitely worth it. The digital remote works even better due to the fact that I now have a keyboard to type into rather than selecting characters individually. I have no issues with the remote at all, but the app would get an INSTANT FIVE STAR RATING [IF] every time you clicked a button your phone would give you haptic feedback. Barely better than a real remoteI got the app as a replacement for the remote because, hey I can type on my phone! This would make searching so much easier. At least that’s what I thought… The app doesn’t quite work like that. It does give a keyboard feature but when you try to use it it doesn’t actually interface with the TV... so you still have to type by pressing left right up down select left right up down if you want a basic search. Lifesaver but suggestionsThe roku remote on the phone comes in clutch if you loose your actual roku remote. I cannot tell you how many times I have had to use the roku remote on the phone because I lost my remote, and each time it works great, never laggy, and connects right away. I do have a suggestion though. Sometimes, wifi likes to go out which in turn goes out on the roku. Unfortunately, if you don’t have your roku remote, you cannot use the roku app as it needs a wifi to connect. Works but QuestionableYes when you get down to it, it works as it should. It doesn’t bug out. The buttons work properly. It has all the functionality of a remote. It’s the advertisements that are the problem. Now ad’s on their own are annoying, but not necessarily an issue. My problem is the advertisements impede the functionality of the remote. Randomly two 5 second adds will play, taking up the entire screen, rendering the app entirely useless until you close out of them. It’s okayI have an Apple TV as well, and the app for that is way better, despite being one screen. No ads, unlike this, and a message pops up on my phone when I need to type for search. Both apps are visually pleasing, and despite not liking this app, I do appreciate the channel screen and being able to go straight to another channel while being in another app. I wish the search function was as efficient as the Apple TV remote app, but I imagine it’s easier for apple since everybody with that app has an iPhone (I think). This app works fine enough if you lose your remote, but there is NO reason to use it otherwise. I use my apple remote app all the time, despite still having my remote handy. The ads on this app are ridiculous. I can barely do anything before one pops up, lasting 30 seconds to a a minute. If you want to use your phone as a remote because you think it’ll be faster, it won’t be. And honestly, if you lost your remote, just buy a new one. I get that you can pay $2 to get rid of the ads, but this shouldn’t be a problem in the first place. Do Not Download This AppI will say, when this app is working correctly it is a blessing. But 90% of the time I try connecting to my TV, which is on the same WiFi as my tv, it will disconnect from my television . It acts like my tv is turned off, but was connected seconds before. The app offers you an option to pay away the ads, however they practically force you to make the purchase in order to actually use the app. If the app stated that it would have blocking ads, it wouldn’t be as bad, but the app advertises itself as “free” when it blocks your phone screen with an ad as your are pressing the control buttons, effectively forcing you to visit the ad. Lots of Ads at the worst momentsThe remote actually works remarkably well as long as your mobil device and the Roku that you want to control is connected to the same network. The issue I have with this digital remote is the advertisements that pop up at the worst possible time such as when you are pressing over on the D-Pad or selecting something which always causes me to click on the ad and completely throws me off. Scam!My child downloaded this upon losing her Roku remote. She subscribed with intent to cancel. She deleted the app thinking that would cancel it. Well I have been paying for a couple weeks now. App was deleted. No usage on app. So I cancelled subscription when in noticed in the 3rd week. I requested a refund starting the app had no usage and my daughter accidentally subscribed and thought deleting the app would clear the subscription. Apple denied my refund. Please explain to me why I’m not eligible for a refund. It was an error. I didn’t use the app and they request a refund. The app was only used for 1 day through the free rush and deleted from my phone. I feel I’m eligible for a refund. A child cannot authorize a subscription. Worked for a day and now it rarely recognizes my tvI lost my Roki remote so I was really hoping I could use this so I don’t have to replace the ridiculously expensive remote. When I open the app it shows my device and that it’s connecting and then it disappears and I just see a blank screen with a loading symbol at the top right of my screen. The tv and phone are connected to the same WiFi, so I can’t seem to tighten out the issue and when I tried looking up how to fix this on the Roku support page all the suggestions are involving the app which doesn't work. I’ve tried on multiple devices and have the same issue. GarbageEverything about this device and this app is pure trash. First of all the device is inexcusable slow and laggy, crashing and freezing often. At first I tried to use the remote that came with the device but it wouldn’t stay connected for more than 30 seconds. So I shelved it for a while, thinking the remote was the issue. Then recently I learned about the remote app, and I was stoked! Maybe I’ll actually get to use this thing. But I quickly realized all of the issues I was having were hardwired into the DNA of this piece of trash. Still slow, laggy, unresponsive, and prone to crashing. And the kicker? THIS APP HAS ADS. The audacity you people have to put ads on a remote control, and then ASK ME TO PAY TO REMOVE THEM is unbelievable. Beating a dead horseThis app works fine. Functionally it is what I needed out of a remote app. The only reason I needed this app was I have found myself with two Roku TVs and 0 remotes. TVs I paid several hundred dollars for, so you’d think Roku would have gotten their money out of me? Right? Wrong. Great when it works, but that isn’t very oftenI got this and paid to remove the ads to control the three rokus in our home. Recently though, it’s stopped detecting any of the TVs at all and just stays stuck trying to “discover devices”. All the Rokus are on the same wifi and they are online and work with their included remotes, so the issue is definitely the app, which at this point was just a waste of money. GrrThe fact that you cannot press buttons more than a few times before an ad place is flat out ridiculous. And it almost always seems like when you need to use the remote right then and there and add please and then you missed your opportunity to be able to use the remote. sometimes an ad will play and you won’t be able to exit out of it until it has fully ran through, or you have to fully exit out of the app and turn it back on to be able to actually use it. The fact that the ads on here are so much make it to where you can hardly use a remote. I refuse to buy add free twice!The app works fine as long as you are connected to the same WiFi as TV. The reason for my 1 star reviews is because the “restore purchase” option doesn’t work for me. I bought this app on my old phone, and when I moved to this one the adds came back. When I try and restore my purchase nothing happens.
