Mashing that refresh buttonThe visual design and the way that the info that’s needed is presented in a good way and shouldn’t be touched. I gave 3 stars instead of 5 is for two reasons. The biggest reason is what others have mentioned many times, by opening the app the clear intention is to get the most updated info about the car. Having to mash the refresh button is NOT needed and frustrating. Fix that and you will make the users of the app happy. The end result is simple, open app, no refresh button present or needed and instead boom it shows you all of the most updated info about the lock status and most importantly the charge status. If it makes the app take a moment longer to load that would be acceptable for most people. The other issue I have is when remotely starting the car, holding down the “Start” button as it says to do, produces a delay and acts like it’s not doing anything and then a moment longer it shows that it remotely started. I understand and support the need to have someone hold down the button on the app to prevent accidental starts, however the delay on the status changing is frustrating. OK… room for improvementThe app in its current state is sufficient at best. As one other reviewer put it, it becomes an endless battle of refreshing the status screen, then the Home Screen, then back to the status screen, then back to the Home Screen just to get this app to update the battery percentage on the main page. In the beginning, it would also show me the current odometer mileage… that worked till about 3500 miles… now it just shows three ellipses after the “Mileage” title. Not sure why, it has less than 5k miles on it, so no extra digit yet. The first year of Solterra Connect is free… unless substantial functionality improvements I probably won’t pay for this. Works Great! Awesome features!I’ve never had a problem with this app. We leased a 24 SOLTERRA in January of 25 and downloaded the app right away. It’s my wife’s car, so I simply logged into her profile on my phones app. We can start and stop the car, lock and unlock, set charging schedules and climate control settings. She absolutely loves how she can warm it up from her bed in these Colorado winters. And if we forget to lock it, you can do that too…all from the app. It tells you mileage and service reminders, even if you left the windows down. Super simple to use and comes in handy every day we drive it. Pro tip: the car needs to be plugged in to set the climate control “schedule.”.TurtleBoyDudeVersion: 2.0.0

Very good app, however..,We got our Subaru and was told it came with an app that was capable of alerting you if your doors and windows were locked or unlocked, it could set up a charging schedule, tell you the percentage of the battery, where you could find charging stations and, if need be, set up a remote key. And it worked perfectly until the free trial ran out. We called Subaru to see what the price was to subscribe. It’s a nice app to have, especially if it was free, but it’s not crucial to have and therefore, paying for it just doesn’t seem cost-effective..As4beatlesVersion: 2.2.0

Needs to update betterOn a positive note: The app is useful for finding charging stations near you, remote start and locking your car remotely. On a negative note: Charging the car and checking percentage is poorly updated. Takes me 6-7 tries of refreshing the screen to get the correct percentage charged. Decent, but could be betterThe app itself is very easy to use and I appreciate the security. I also appreciate the capability of the op on Apple Watch. However everytime you open the app to check vehicle status, you do have to re open and refresh the app multiple times to get the most accurate information. Pretty MediocreThe concept is great. The execution is lackluster. The number 1 feature I use this app for is to check charging status. When you launch, the screen shifts around as it redraws the charging status showing yesterday’s data. Then you have to click the charging status header to go to the charging status details. Then you have to hit the refresh button. Then you go back to the main screen. Then click the charging status again. Then it takes you to the charging detail screen with the correct charging status/battery level. This is… kinda nuts. Okay, but needs improvementThe time of a recent pre-start setting always reverts to the current time whenever the date is updated - what’s with that?? For example, if I set the app to start the car at 6:00 a.m. today, when, later, say at 4:00 p.m., I try to update the date for two days later but still want the time to remain the same, the time reverts to 4:00 p.m. That’s ridiculous. Charging nightmaresI have traveled 1342 miles in my new Solterra and have charged it 8 or 10 times. Each time I was outside my area I had to find chargers and download an app for each one. At 1st my old IPhone had to be replaced to connect to the car and to all of the chargers! So I was out a thousand dollars right off the bat. Refresh screen over and overLike others have stated, when trying to view the current battery percentage while charging, the screen needs to be refreshed multiple times, at least 4-6 times to show current battery charge. Better than the ratings suggestFirst - the app isn’t great, but it’s not as bad as some of the reviews make it seem. Also - some of the reviews are word for word duplicates. Makes me think disgruntled people who just like to complain. Does it lag on the charging data? Yes - does it also refresh the data when you click the “refresh” button or drag down to refresh? Also yes. The digital key works okay - but it definitely needs work. It’s not as instantaneous as some would like, but it’s also a neat feature. Do I wish it was a true Subaru app? Yes. The BT authorization is awful; it always prompts every time you approach the car. And, not having App support for a second driver is bad. Simply cannot refresh battery status!When I pull up this app to simply check the battery percentage status, I expect to see the current status of the battery. This app does not do that. It shows me the status 10 mins ago. I always have to press the refresh symbol multiple times to see the real-time status. Could the app developer please get this simple function done right? Needs More FeaturesThe app is getting better with each update. However, it needs more features that are an absolute must for EVs. A big one is the ability to change the maximum state of charge (charge limit) to whatever percentage we want in the app (ex. 80%, 90%, 100%). Also, you need to be able to do this while the car is charging (plugged in). Currently we have to unplug the car, turn it on and change it from the car’s multi media settings then turn the car off, and plug it back in. If I know I am going on a road trip tomorrow and want 100% overnight I should be able to change this right from the app without having to go out to my car and do the above. Good MVPSolid MVP, hasn’t bugged out on me yet. If the car is connected to the phone, sometimes the app won’t load because it doesn’t have a data connection. Would love to see some of the same stats from the car under in the app (it’s cold in Canada and I don’t want to sit in the car looking at them). Would also like to see more under the ‘Advanced settings’ or ‘Charge management’. Of course, I also want to see the % state of charge and not only the guess-o-meter, but I know this is already in the works. App got in the way of chargingI was trying to charge my car for the first time. I tried first at a ChargePoint location, but it never started charging. Then I tried a blink location. No luck. Each time, I’d download a new app, create an account, add my credit card, and then nothing would happen. I tried Electrify America because everyone said it was their favorite. That didn’t work, either. I started to think I was losing my mind. I ended up having to rent a car while the Subaru dealership investigated because I needed to get to an appointment Saturday morning. The dealership had no problem charging. So when I got my car back, I tried again at Electrify America. This time, it got hung up initializing for about a minute, then it flashed an alert that the car had stopped charging. Immediately after that, an update for the Solterra app appeared. Once I updated the Solterra app, the Electrify America charger worked. But the Solterra app still showed that I had only 30 percent charged. It was only when I logged out of the Solterra app and logged back in that the charging percentage finally synced. Just be aware that if you have trouble charging, the Solterra app may be getting in the way. That’s my hypothesis..Nicely-doneVersion: 1.0.14

Poor but functionalBeen using the app daily for about a month, primarily to monitor battery level, and occasionally to remote lock/unlock or remote start. The worst UX aspects: typically I have to tap “refresh” 3-4 times to get the latest battery level info. The lock/unlock/start controls aren’t intuitive and usually fail for random reasons instead of showing a disabled state. I think typically related to whether the car is locked or charging. It feels like it was all built to satisfy a list of software requirements but no one on the team actually uses the app. It seems like it was designed to support multiple drivers with separate accounts, but that doesn’t seem to work. There’s support for adding your home address but you can only add nearby points of interest and not an actual address..BenJamminVersion: 1.0.14

Super annoying to have installedThe app works… okay ish. There are a few huge issues it has though: - App prompts for permission to connect to the car *constantly*. Like, if you are within 10’ of the car it will trigger a prompt - while using other apps - to allow permission to connect. It does this when you’re in the car, already connected via CarPlay or whatever. It does this while walking by the car. It does this while unloading the car. It does this while charging the car. It literally hijacks your phone anytime you are near it. It’s to the point that I might just uninstall it entirely because I get no benefit from it. - If app has permission to access location data, it will mark itself as a navigation app and stay running in the background (draining battery life). Even when you aren’t doing anything with it. It just… really, really wants to know where your phone is all the time, even if you are nowhere near your car. This is a HUGE red flag. - App doesn’t enable EV routing features in Apple Maps, which is super close to being a deal breaker - Digital Key doesn’t integrate with the iOS CarKey framework, so it relies on being able to pair via Bluetooth All in all - the app is a case study in how not to make an iOS app for electric vehicles. You’re better off not using it at all than using the small number of features it enables..LgroeniVersion: 1.0.6

DisappointingI have family who have Tesla’s and when they asked to see the app for my car after seeing theirs I was embarrassed to put it nicely! 1. Why the heck can’t we see the incoming power when charging? 2. Why does everything take so embarrassingly LONG to update? 3. Why can’t we roll windows up/down via the app? 4. Why isn’t there the ability to prep the battery? I work at 05:30 in the upper Midwest so when it’s cold out I’d like to be able to do that beings the car is plugged in. 5. Really basic and terrible appIt’s really embarrassing that a car company has developed and released such a terrible app. First of all it loads and operates like an old website, not a modern UI. The buttons and menus all react slowly if at all or just don’t work. As other reviewers indicated you need to constantly pull down and refresh to get any kind of updated data. The most important feature is the digital key, however this simply just doesn’t work a lot of the time, which is quite the issue if you are depending on it to open and start your car! Unlike Tesla it seems that you need to open the app first… however the app won’t open if phone service isn’t great which could potentially strand you. Then sometimes it just doesn’t work regardless. From bad to worseI love this car. I hate this app. I hate all of the in car system. I wish this was a true Subaru experience. Their app is amazing. Love the car, hate the appBought a new 2023 Touring and love it, but the app is ridiculous. Took so long to connect a key with the dealer on pickup day. Plus, I’m trying to share a digital key with a family member and they do get the text, click the link, are redirected to the AppStore to download the app they already have, and nothing happens. No key ever loads, and the button to add car remains. I’m on an iPhone 14 IOS 17.4. I can have the other person login as me and see everything and my digital key, but that defeats the purpose of sharing 1 of 7 digital keys. Missing critical functionality, poor performanceThis app is almost useless. You must refresh multiple times to view your battery status. You can set a charging schedule based on time, but you can’t set a percentage threshold for charging, which is the industry standard. On top of all that, you have to pay a monthly subscription fee to use the app functionality. I let my subscription lapse, and I could not reconnect through the app without customer support. I was stuck in a circular problem with no solution in the app. And customer service had me use the SOS button to reconnect to the app??? Absolutely terrible design all around. Update took features awaySo the app was pretty barren to begin with. Just some really basic info and functions for the car. Saw there was an update and thought “finally, they are moving out of the EV dark ages to provide some decent functionality.” Nope. They took features away. I used to be able to actively see the charge percentage of the car. Now, I can only see the last updated are of charge. Refresh does not update. The most annoying part. The car also doesn’t show percentage of charge - just “miles” and “time” to full charge. The tech with this app and car is abysmal - and even worse with the update. Why is this app so bad?!I’ve been using the Subaru Connect app on my 2026 Solterra for about a month now and it is not good. First, it takes multiple clicks and refreshes to get an accurate reading of charging status. All I want to do is open the app and know how charged my car is without having to guess if the app is telling me the most recent %. Second, the notifications are annoying. This includes a pop up on my phone to allow the car to connect to my phone. I already said yes and have said nothing but yes. Please stop asking me. Third, apparently my model is not compatible with a Digital Key, yet the app always shows “Download Digital Key” front and center. Why can’t it recognize this isn’t an option for me and just hide this message? I spent so much time trying to download the key and having it fail time after time, only to find out that I don’t have access to this feature after calling the dealership. Come on, Subaru. Disappointing FeaturesSubaruConnect will only support 1 driver for remote start of A/C. It’s as if the expect everyone to be wealthy enough to have a second vehicle for their spouse. It’s glitchy when connecting to the entertainment display. I can start the car and have my music playing through my iPhone but screen will display messages about profile not found and then not connected as I drive and listen to music. Subaru should be ashamedThis app is insanely bad. It says I need to download the key, but fails to download. After “sharing” services with someone else and then revoking it now says that my subscription has expired. I called support to listen to them literally Google for solutions for 30 minutes with no fix. There are no key fob battery warning notifications so you can be suddenly stranded if it dies as there’s no way to start the car with the physical key. And, if you’re like me and also locked out of your digital services you’re stuck calling roadside assistance. Works 10% of the timeWhen it works, you can remotely start your car! For a bit it took me 4 tries to do this - about 25% of the time. Recently, I’ve been just out of luck with this app. If it only was supposed to let me check the miles on my car, I would rate it a 4/5. It’s fine. I have to reload it frequently. But adding in the car start feature (that my remote on my Honda can do easily) it drops quite a bit. I hope that this gets better. I thought there was an update and it would be fine. Ha! Sad excuse for an appI had a Tesla before and then got a Solterra. I know what is possible from an EV app, and this doesn't meet the bar. Not even close. I like the vehicle, but the app is a joke. Don't bother trying to find chargers. The digital key never works for me. The app will notify you if the door is left unlocked, and can lock the door remotely, that's about all it's good for. Considering this is an integral part of the functionality of a $50,000 car... I expected much more. Subaru needs to take their app development more seriously. I Thought the 2-Star Rating Was Anti-EV Brigading. It’s Not.We’ve had our 2026 Solterra on lease for about a month. We also own a 2025 Outback Wilderness and use the other MySubaru app fairly regularly. The Subaru Connect app is embarrassingly bad. 1. Only one driver can have the car linked in the app. Multiple profiles can be in the car. If I take the car to work, I can’t pre-condition the cabin while it’s on the charger. First world problem, but also not rocket science. MySubaru does it. 2. The data refresh in the app is…random? For example, this morning it showed: 93% (the starting charge yesterday morning), 67% (the ending charge after the commute), but never the 82% it was actually at after charging overnight. Glitchy App For a Meh SolterraThe app doesn’t talk to the vehicle very well, and the functionality is limited when it does. In our other Subaru’s app, you can do SO MUCH MORE. On this app, I can’t even change what % I want the battery to charge to. Kind of annoying to not only remember when it needs changed and do more than grab the phone. Not thought outAs others have stated, the app can only pair to one driver. In a family that has 2 drivers, the app is beyond frustrating. When you call into support, they say you need to share the one account—let’s go over why this does not work: 1. Notifications go berserk if only one of the drivers leave which make the notification more than useless 2. Setting profiles and keys to drivers confuses the crap out of the system. If you are drastically different sizes of your spouse, the larger one will have a bad time if the car pairs to the wrong person 3. The above makes the digital keys useless 4. Digital keys are useless The only thing that the app is capable of doing is providing a current charge status and that has been lagging and glitchy too. There was an “attempt”I truly don’t review apps, that’s how bad this app is for what it’s supposed to be used for. The UI is clunky, it’s hard to find settings, and I sure wish there weren’t two whole shortcuts on the menu bar solely for the surprise of buying and paying for subscriptions. Not ReliableAter 4 months this app has turned to mush. The Home Screen keeps kicking me out despite the “keep me signed in” check. Then when I try to log in again the “you have been signed out” message keeps popping up on the screen. The pop up never quits keeping me from signing in. A bit glitchy, but nice when it worksI hope Subaru fixes these bugs. I have observed a few glitches that I’d like to report: 1. After remote starting the car, the Bluetooth disconnects with my phone and I have to manually reconnect it upon entering the car. 2. The remote climate control settings stopped working today. Terrible appThis really is a terrible app. It’s constantly logging me out even though I tell it to not forget me and keep me signed in. If I try to start my car remotely, it then won’t connect up to the CarPlay. You have to reboot the console to get the CarPlay to connect. Also, it does not show charging details properly. The other day I was charging my car and the app never reported the charge even though when I got back in the car, the car had been charged to 100% and the app showed it at 30. Truly horribleThis is truly one of the most horrific apps I have on my phone. I use it with my Subaru uncharted. How a company can make such an amazing car but can’t seem to make a super stable and usable app is beyond me. Checking the battery percent is beyond buggy. It hardly ever updates. Long way to goThis is my 3rd EV and the worst app. They are all much better than Toyota-Subaru app and the others update more frequently. Can’t read charging data and percentage at the top with out a struggle. It’s too small. Won’t easily update it. Can’t set-change charging percentage (70%, 90%) from the app. Can’t initiate or stop charging from app. So much more. Does not workAll I get is a black screen that’s it. I hit register black screen. I rebooted my phone six times. I’ve deleted the app out of my phone 607 times I can’t even register my vehicle for it to work so the app is junk. I don’t know what you guys did do it, but it doesn’t work at all. Useless app!I’m not sure what this app is designed to do, because it doesn’t do anything well. The recent update made it even LESS functional. It’s great in theory: remote start, customize charging schedule, schedule maintenance, etc. In effect, it does none of those things reliably. Continually needing to refresh the app, continually getting signed out and having to start over. Truly a garbage app and my biggest source of frustration with the car!! 90% AnnoyingThe app has some great features. As someone new to EVs, some of it is intuitive but much of it is confusing. But the app doesn’t explain much about the car’s very arbitrary naming of things and is made to look like a fancier fob but it’s still not easy to navigate. HorribleThis app easily matches how horrible the software in the car is. Toyota needs to hire some high school kids to rewrite this (and the car UI) and turn it into a useful, usable app. There’s not enough room to document all the shortcomings as many others have said. Love my Uncharted but this app is terribleFalse vehicle status notifications in the middle of the night (open windows, unlocked etc). Digital key download fails (loops forever on screen requesting to enable notifications via sms messages, while sucking up my cell data). It’s generally laggy and I have to frequently refresh to sync vehicle status. Plus, ATT hot spot cancellation requires a phone call. Needs ImprovementWhen it works, the app is nice and a valuable addition to the SOLTERRA ownership experience. It is not reliable. iPhone repeatedly asks to Allow Access for this App. The digital key is supposed to work for up to six phones. It only works on 1 of our 4 phones even after calling tech support. The Subaru electronic interface is generally clunky and dysfunctional, and the app is no different. Lots to be desired and slow comms with vehicleBeen loving the vehicle itself owning the Solterra but the Subaru Connect app leaves a lot to be desired. The main features are missing such as: Battery Departure Schedule, Max. SOC, Max. Current, view vehicle efficiency stats and performance stats, etc. And the delay to make any change is horrendous. App doesn’t need to confirm the settings have taken place in the vehicle at the time but whenever it’s sent and confirmed. A simple alert can occur when it’s not sent/received as a fix.
