I have loved Good Housekeeping mag for most of my 73 years. There was always at least one recent issue on the coffee table at home. I was thrilled to find that I could continue having those current issues on iPad even though I now live abroad, and I went electronic when the app first appeared. All was well until about a year ago when the app changed formats. Since then I’ve had nothing but trouble. I have complained about this directly to the app people when that was an option in the Contact Us area. The problems have been numerous. This week every morning I have received a notice on my screen saying my November issue is ready to Download and please be sure to see this or that. When I follow the link or go to the app to download it myself I’m still stuck on Halloween. The screens I used to be able to see to help control or just to complain to the powers that be are nowhere to be found! Why? This app certainly does not have my seal of approval. How can Good Housekeeping continue to give out their famous seal of approval and yet deal in such a shoddy product? It has given me nothing but trouble. By the way, all the other magazines I subscribe to work perfectly 99% of the time.
❤️ Amazing in every way. I learn something new and interesting everytime I decide to peek in one. Perfect for someone like me who doesn’t know anything about housekeeping!
The articles for this month were more relevant to our current status ( Staying home). Keep us the good work with giving us recipes, home remedies, and basic activities to stay mentally well.
I love this app but my only thing is that it needs a place where we can save 🔖 something we like on the app. I wish it had that.
I am stuck in Dec. 2019. Apple support could not fix it. I like the online magazine, but where is it? Very frustrating.

I really love this magazine, it has everything; great advice, wonderful products, cutting-edge health and beauty articles, fashion and home design and the recipes are to die for.
November isn’t available but it’s a week away.
It’s the only magazine I’ve love
Love this app for reading the magazine online. However, is there supposed to be a January 2020 issue available?
I was very excited to see this feature on the iPad at first. Purchashing and downloading the magazines is very easy. However, once you download and pay for the item(s) you are unable to scroll or "page thru" the magazine. Six dollars and three magazines later, I am unable to read any of the magazines that I've purchased. This review is not about the money aspect. It is about the fact that this App does not work at all and leaves you feeling very disappointed!
It took forever to get help with getting the right app downloaded (miscommunication on the part of Hearst magazine) but once they sent the right information i needed and I downloaded my first digital copy of GH ... I LOVE IT!!! I can SEE to read the articles w/o straining and I really love the extra stuff!! The photos are IN YOUR FACE gorgeous!! I want to get every magazine I subscribe to this way now!! No more wondering what to do with the hard copy when I'm finished with it and no more thinking of the trees it cost to print the ga-zillion magazines in the world. I'M LOVIN' IT!!
I've been a Good Housekeeping subscriber for years, but I often found it difficult to find time the read the magazines. Now I always have the latest issue at my fingertips and can read whenever or wherever -- early in the morning (when it's too dark to read without turning the light on) or waiting in a line somewhere. Although not having real pages to turn takes getting used to, I'm loving this digital subscription!
This app is great for the most part. I am not a fan of how long it takes to download the magazine, and that you have to have the app open for the download to take place (as in it won't download in the background) i would also like to see a more interactive magazine, like BHG electronic magazine.
If you love Pinterest, you will love this magazine! Every issue not only give me ideas I love, but has a link to how to do it, as well as where to buy the supplies! This issue is just as amazing as the rest!!
This article is very interesting and informative. I have clued into my daughter's, my Mother's, my sister's and possibly my girlfriend's misdiagnosed "Fibromyalgia". I just couldn't understand why all these symptoms were so common in "Fibro" and yet the medications Rx'd to them, did not help. Because of this articles in-depth information, explaination and thought provoking prose, I have phoned each one and asked if they have ever had the blood test for Lyme Disease. They all said no, but are contacting their family Dr.'s for these tests. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Love this magazine
I've been reading good housekeeping for 30 years and have never been disappointed in an issue! It's the only magazine I read cover to cover.
It will not let me read it
I found this issue to be very interesting. I am in my 50's and enjoyed reading the articles about Kyra, solutions for wrinkles, and recipes.
This is a very good magazine with a bunch of recipes
Thank u :)
Good Housekeeping Magazine US Negative Reviews and Ratings
I have been reading GH for 57years! Sometimes I’ve been able to have a subscription, otherwise I’d buy it in the grocery store. When the digital age struck I was delighted. Now I could have it always on my iPad. This April issue is the most disappointing issue, ever. Your format has been changing over the years: no personal interest stories, nothing written in depth, etc. This issue was full of repeating ads — duplicates one right after another. Often articles are short, and duplicated. I am extremely disappointed in Good Housekeeping Magazine. When my subscription comes up for renewal, I will be canceling. Regretfully, ....Hope Whitten
I have been a subscriber for several years but recently have been unable to locate, never mind download, the July/August 2025 edition. It simply does not appear, even when I restore my purchases. I am repeatedly asked to pay for issues even though I have an active subscription. I have tried contacting the developers and their responses have been unhelpful. The FAQs section tells me “access denied”. This is unacceptable. I am canceling my subscription, which is a shame because I enjoyed reading the magazine.
I just purchased a subscription to Good Housekeeping online and I got the email confirming it. I’m supposed to get access to the digital version of the magazine and yet it won’t let me log into the app with the email and zip I’m supposed to be able to log in with. I’m very confused and frustrated by this.
First of all, I really like GH the magazine. But this app stinks. Used to work great but the app has become super glitchy. IF I can even get the issue to open, every page is duplicated in the issue. So I have to swipe thru every ad twice. I’m on my way to iTunes to cancel my subscription. Big bummer.
I assumed that since I am a subscriber to Good Housekeeping magazine, I would able to enter my subscription information in the app in order to review back issues digitally. Not so, the app requires a separate subscription and GH has no digital issues for current subscribers to review. Two separate subscriptions! Hardly. I expected more from GH.
Issues will not download so buying a annual subscription is a total waste of money. The developer MAZ claims no responsibility and will not help. Basically MAZ (developer) has only one function and that seems to be to con apple users into subscribing. The magazine blames the developer and Apple says too bad! I have now learned to avoid any app that says MAZ
Wish app would have a favorites option for articles and recipes vs having to scroll and try to find it - or at minimum a search feature that works
I emailed app support about a week ago regarding November 2019’s missing issue not showing up for download. No response and the issue is still not available for download on the app.
I bought a digital subscription, but it won’t even let me log in. It just keeps saying that the content is in the wrong format. What does that even mean?? And, yes, I have updated my iOS. So frustrated!
I am having a hard time searching recipes
Love the magazine but the app is crap. It crashes, freezes, and it always has difficulties letting me log in/download the issues I paid for...
I purchased a digital subscription and have no idea how to access it. I entered my password but it still wants to charge me for a magazine???
Have not received update for July and August…. No response from reviews or emails. Horrible tech support . Quick to take $$$$
I reset my password 5 times and I still can’t log in using the correct password.
I cannot get NOVEMBER issues to appear to even down Load. I have an active subscription .
I got this digital subscription through a fund raising by Girl Scouts. I’ve already paid for it. Instructions call for verify subscription ; there is NO place to verify. What a waste!
Issues no longer download. Total waste of money
How can I get November Issue. Never had a problem before! Who do I contact?
No pictures…. No text. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing.
Not only can I not get my November issue the app keeps crashing!! Really not impressed.
Can't download through iTune but amazingly they can download my automatic payment. How do I cancel this?
I downloaded this FREE app today. $3.99 after 5 free minutes to read each month, no thanks!!
Can’t log in
I have read Good Housekeeping in the past and downloaded the Jan. 2012 issue because I was curious. It seems that the publishers have simply taken the print version and reduced the page size to fit on the iPad screen, rather than configure the page layout to take advantage of the iPad. The result is blurry text that is difficult to read. I have never had to complain about small text before, so this is a first. I feel it is a waste to pinch zoom for a magazine that is "made" for the iPad. It gives you a pin hole view of the page with a lot of scrolling. I would not buy this magazine again in the iPad format, as it was not pleasurable to read. It is a shame because because I really like having all my content in one place, and saving a tree while I am at it. While I am not an Oprah fanatic, her magazine is a really great example of configuring content to the iPad. It is much more enjoyable to read in the online format.
The previous version was great! This app has ruined my digital magazine experience! Writing to them about it was another horrible experience with having to repeat myself to them over and over about the app problems. I kept getting robot answers! The pages load like a slow webpage. The ad pages are so touchy that I have to concentrate as to how I touch the screen, because if the ad opens, I can't get it to close and have to go all the way out and back in, sometimes to the same thing. I've deleted the app a couple times and have to start the magazine issue over...still getting problems. Not sure what the thoughts were in doing this to the app, but CHANGE IT BACK! I'm considering cancelling my subscription or going back to print. The app is more trouble than it's worth!
This is the second issue I h ave gotten on iPad 2. I keep tapping the screen....no interaction. That's what the iPad is about! Take a look at Seventeen ... It has embedded stuff... Like video, links, extra info etc....just tap and it expands into something active and exciting. I like this magazine... Unfortunately it's just a way to read it the same way as the print version. iPad users expect more. I am 63 years old. This magazine may be age appropriate, but my granddaughters Seventeen is by far more typical of what I expect of an iPad magazine. I tap the screen on it and go "wow!" and can't wait to show it to someone else. That excitement is what's needed with this app.
I subscribe to the print issue and I thought to myself, "Hey, save a tree. Go digital." Then I looked at what it would cost me. When a magazine's editorial column (in July 2013 from Rosemary Ellis) talks about saving paper towels when washing hands you would think there would be better digital pricing. I can get two+ years of print for one year of digital! This is absolutely insane! I'm in shock and completely disappointed. I will continue with print, thus destroying more trees... And I will constantly be wondering about the hypocrisy of it all because these prices scream hypocrisy all the way to the bank.
I agree with all the others - I had subscribed to GH for many many years & got an iPad & thought it would be free with a print subscription - but no! It totally surprised me since GH prides itself on keeping up with the times. I tried calling the 800# to get help & that was so frustrating, that I canceled my subscription all together! For the first time in years I'm not getting GH & will not subscribe again until they do what all the other magazines are doing - iPad version is free with paid print subscription!
Soooo disappointed in this app. My mama gave me the subscription to print versions of 3 magazines for Christmas...this is the ONLY one that does not give you the iPad version free with a paid subscription. How can this be, Good Housekeeping? You have always been one of my favorites, but this app is such a disappointment! The subscription has been paid for...look at the beautiful app for iPad from Better Homes and Gardens. This is what a customer expects when you download an app!
I'd give ZERO stars as that is how many pages I get to read of this once favorite magazine. When I download an issue to read later, it is gone when I open it. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM! Paid for the digital subscription, but now I'm wishing I'd gotten the hard copy since digital seems to be elusive to find. No customer support to fix the problem either. Good Housekeeping has done a good job creating mystery in reading. Too bad that's not the genre. What will the Good Housekeeping seal rate this digital version? There's your mystery.
I found this app to be helpful when I'm on the run and I'm bored and I wanna read a magazine. It is great if you don't have the mail in subscription, however I think if you have the subscription GH should identify you so you don't have to pay twice, only once.
I have a print subscription, and many other magazine apps offer free issues on the iPad, but this does not. I find it ridiculous that I pay to get the print issues, but when I'm traveling, or don't want to haul the physical issue around, I can't download the issue for convenience. Other magazines offer free pad issues, and I feel you should, too. What's stopping you?
Have a print subscription? Well, don't plan on necessarily viewing your purchase on your iPad. This is my FOURTH magazine subscription for which there is an app....but NO GO on accessing ANY of them on my iPad. I won six subscriptions in a contest & checked TO MAKE SURE they each had an app. Didn't realize that I'd actually get to READ ONLY TWO of them on my iPad. SO BUYER BEWARE: even if iTunes has an app for a magazine subscription you've purchased, there is NO guarantee you will EVER read it on your hand-held device(s).
I also strongly feel that people who have already paid for a subscription should NOT have to pay again to read on their iPad. Making people pay twice is just not a good business practice. Maybe those who fit this situation should contact GH in WRITING in addition to leaving their thoughts here, then maybe they will "get the hint" and change things.....
I agree with previous reviewers. Pretty annoying that ipad app is not included with print subscription, as every other magazine does! I jut got my ipad, maybe someday ill read everything in digital format, but right now I'm not ready. I like to have both print and digital copies. Love good housekeeping, but there are other women's magazines out there that aren't charging for both. Please offer a free digital subscription with print subscription, Hearst!
I am a print subscriber and the fact that I have to pay $20/yr to read the same issue on my iPad is beyond ridiculous. My other magazine subscriptions allow me to enter my customer/account number and then the digital version is free/included with the print version. Any magazine asking me to pay separately for a digital version is one I am no longer going to read and will be canceling my subscription for. See ya, GH.
Well, you are losing yet another subscriber. I subscribe to your magazine and have paid for the subscription yet I, as a PAID SUBSCRIBER, cannot read your magazine on my iPad. Are you friggin' kidding me? Well, here's one subscriber who won't be paying for print OR digital copies of your magazine. Greed always is bad for business. I am proof of that because **POOF** I am gone! No renewals for me. I won't be reading your magazine. Your loss.
Very small hard to read. Can download to read offline but have no idea where it went. Overall not impressed
I was charged three times for this subscription and it won’t even allow me to log in
The only reason this gets only 3 stars is the constant problem with downloading. It takes forever and when I go back the next day I have to download all over again. Come on GH, your app doesn't deserve your seal of approval.
I have a print subscription .... How do I change it to a digital subscription? Thanks.
Offers no free digital edition with print subscription and only hints at discounted fee coming in future. Double shame on you for trying to double dip on your faithful followers and for being so far behind the curve. Not what I expect from you at all.
