Daily Screen time won’t allow you to edit/modify and set up screen when select just redirects you back to the main page worst app ever and to think I was happy to see more parent safety features available easily to control from an app, but not worth the download I’m deleting app if I could give zero stars I would highly disappointed

I love having a simple dashboard app to control their accounts. The pause / resume button is great. But it needs a way to do a one day override of the individual settings. For example if your in the car, on a plane or your kid is home sick you should be able to give them more app or video time without having to change the settings permanently and then have to remember to go in and change them back.

I love the app, but I wish it had a feature to automatically pause screen time in intervals. For example, after 45 minutes of usage, the app could enforce a 1-hour break. This would make parenting much easier, especially with all the daily tasks we juggle. Right now, I have to manually pause it, which can be inconvenient. Adding this feature would be a game-changer! Otherwise, the app is fantastic!

I am enjoying the new update as far as weekdays and weekend updates. I love that now we can adjust setting based upon each day versus weekdays/weekend. The new app is clearer. Brighter. Easy to use to adjust settings. I appreciate the added time ranges from 15 minutes to almost 12 hours versus “unlimited.” The app responds to my son’s tablet faster when making adjustments.

Bought her a fire kids tablet for Christmas and she loves it to death. We have it set where she has to read books for 30 min every day before she can play anything. You can set times for everything and absolutely no inappropriate content can be viewed if you’ve got the settings right. Perfection.

My wife and I are enjoying this device for our daughter, does everything it says it does. Love the parental guidance it has, definitely want one for my room. Do recommend this for any parent, for their child to have fun with it

We find the app pretty user friendly, however in the “add content” section is just a long list of previously purchased apps in no order. It would be nice to have the ability to search and sort the list so apps are easier to find instead of having to scroll….and scroll.

So happy with this purchase. Takes some time to set up and screen apps you don’t want your child to use but when done you will feel secure in what your child can access. Only disappointment is we can’t use Budge World on my child’s profile! That’s why I gave only 4 stars.

It took way too long to find the parent dashboard. I couldn’t find it in my app or online account. I had to look through a million emails to dig for the notification. the app dashboard thing should be in the primary home screen in the app and my online account.

Love the safety of the apps, the parental control, the monitoring, the ability to manage kids profiles easily, and the amount of options for kids kids and videos is great!

Much better to be able to control remotely rather than having to mess with the screen limit settings on the device.

The app is really convenient and works pretty good. My only issue is I don’t get notifications when my child requests to download a game and I can’t find where to go to approve or deny the request. That part is really frustrating.

Love how bonus time was added recently. The next wonderful addition would be if parents could see how much time has been used in real time when limiting screen time.

Though it would be nice to have the option to extend daily limits (on a non-recurring basis, eg Add 30 mins) without having to change the permanent screen limit schedule.

I’m sorry, but any device that has the potential to give my kid (or any child) access to a web browser / explicit material deserves less than one star, and should be illegal. I had not toggled the “web browser” setting on this app, thinking that if I didn’t turn it on, there wouldn’t be access to a web browser. Turns out, my kids had access for the last 3 months, since we bought them. Some innocent searches led to much, much worse. Had I known, I would never have purchased a kindle kid’s paperwhite for them… they are going in the fire now and I will warn all parents to not repeat my mistake. I know I’m not the only parent out there who this has happened to… speak out if this has happened in your family! Help another parents and let’s protect our children since we can’t trust the people who make this technology.

The dashboard does not sync on time. My son has been reading a new book that I got him for the past 2 hrs, but it has not shown up on this app yet. When the device does not have internet, like when we’re traveling, the books that we’ve purchased and downloaded are not available. Normal kindles function without internet, so I don’t understand why the kindle kids requires internet to have access to all that you already own. I wish it had a “library” option, instead of having to scroll through all the kids+ subscription is trying to push on you to find “recent” or “books chosen for you” I also wish there was an easier way to select/ deselect books that are available on the kids+ subscription. Currently you have to scroll through every single option and deselect one by one. It’s not user friendly.

Yes you can monitor screen use. However, you can’t view ONLY apps downloaded to the kids tablet, you have to go through EVERYTHING available or used. You can’t enable notifications so using chore apps are useless and same with messenger kids for communication purposes. Fire tablets and the dashboard seem to be lightyears behind in accessibility and usefulness. I spent so much time setting up a chore app with rewards and it’s useless because my child can’t get something as simple as a freaking notification. I want to return their tablets for something else.

I was very excited to use the time settings. However, when they’ve met their screen time limit they can’t listen to music on their Alexa. The whole point of using the screen time, to me, is getting them to in bed and not looking at a screen so they can have no noise, music, or a story if they want. If they’ve met their screen time they can’t use their Alexa at all and there is no individual setting for Alexa. That should let even count as screen time.

Currently using this app to control content on my kids fire tab, but it’s disappointing that there is no “adding breaks” options.. you may wanna keep a screen time of 3hrs in the window you choose but there should be option of adding breaks after each 1hr or so.. it’s frustrating that I have to manually go on the App each time to pause the access.. Another improvement could be letting us choose which app should be used for how much time (app time limits). The current feature only says videos or apps which I believe include all.. so choosing specific apps would be great..

The app consistently changes the time restrictions I set for my kids. I can pause devices, but it will only pause 1 kid’s device and the other is still able to use. I’ve changed the password several times and the parent pin as well. The whole point of this was so the parent could have control and wouldn’t constantly have to physically take the device/remotes away from the kids. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t do what it advertised it does. I wish I would’ve bought Apple products instead.

I wish you could set limits on certain apps not categories without a list of what specifically that category encompasses. For example, on the iPad we had before the fire tablet, you could exclude apps from the time limit. This way it would block him from playing games or streaming shows but he could use his white noise app anytime. I had to take off the time li It option because his white noise was turning off in the middle of the night and he was locked out so he had to wake me up to get it back on.

It’s too bad the app images show the ability to set screen time by day vs weekdays and weekends like the old app. This is an issue because Friday nights we have to increase the time since it’s not a school night. By Monday we forget to switch the time back to normal school night time so we essentially have to manually update the time twice a week. Bad design. I really don’t see any improvements from the old app so far. Not sure why they made some minor UI changes and released what is essentially a duplicate app.

The app has been a little cumbersome to use for years. I have three kids that I manage their content on their devices. With the latest update to the app I am no longer able to add or remove content that I own. Thus it makes the app worse than before. When I go the +content tab it sends me to the store to buy content only and does not allow me to select the content that is already mine. For now I won’t be able to use the app as that was my only use for it to add new books to kindles or a new game on a fire tablet.

It used to show new content at the top of the list, which made it easy to add recent books to my kid’s kindle. Then I had to filter to books first, but the new ones were still on top. Now I have to search for the titles, the new ones are randomly mixed into the many titles on my own kindle. There needs to be a sort by date option, or out it back how it used to be!!!

I like that I can set my child’s tablet to only operate during certain hours and for only so many hours during that timeframe. However, what I wish I could tell was how much of that time have used so far. It really would be nice to help me to manage their expectations instead of suddenly being cut off in the middle of an activity with no warning. Also, I keep getting message notifications, but there are no messages when you open the app.

Was able to set up some time restraints fairly easy, although the UX could honestly be better, but was really disappointed that the content management is completely broken. Toggling content off doesn’t stick when navigating back to the content page, the same content that was switched off is re-enabled. If it did work then there’s the problem that they push videos that I don’t want, and to turn those videos off requires them all to be done one at a time and there are thousands!

My son is 5 and I have every single posible block content that I can put in his tablet and always some random videos that are not age appropriate shows up. I follow all the directions to make sure my son uses his tablet for educational purposes and sometime I download his favorite shows, and then violent games or random videos get in his feed. Honestly not good at all. I give it a 2 stars because it does have some educational content but that it.

The “pause device” feature hardly ever works, even when connected to the same WiFi network. Having to reset the schedule every time you want to use it outside of scheduled hours gets super frustrating. I wish there was an option to make an exception to the schedule for the day, instead of having to change the schedule. Otherwise the features are fine.

I like that I am able to set daily screen times but I would really appreciate it if I could see how much time they have left for the day. I know you can see it on the kids tablet but I would like to see it from this parent control app. Also, I have all the setting for my kids to request apps but somehow they can still download some without a request.

I cannot delete apps fully off of my kids fire tablet. I hold the app, select delete, it says okay but the app stays visible on the main screen and all my child has to do to reactivate it is click on it—there’s no permission required either. I also cannot delete the app via my control app on my phone. Also, when we added Netflix, it opens the adult user even after I have switched it to the kids user and despite having age restrictions on the fire itself.

I find the part where I control which content is available to my kid very difficult- I can disallow some content; but it makes me click through each item individually, and with thousands of items available, it’s incredibly annoying to do. I also can’t stop access to kindle+ for my child for a certain time. I for one will not be renewing my subscription after this trial period ends.

The time limit doesn’t always end, even with set times. 7PM set time will still have the tablet on until 7:30, even if we pause the time. If Roblox is in use, the time limit is completely void until leaving the app. We keep the tablet updated, as well as the parental app. There’s no apparent fix.

The amount of items (thousands) that are available is great (yet too much at the same time) until it takes up all the storage on the tablet. However, when you go to remove some of the items, it’s absolutely insane to have to remove each item one by one (or the only other option is to remove that entire kind of content, i.e. books, videos, etc.). You do not make this easy for parents at all.

After adding bonus time it shows a message that it has been added, but it will be available in a few minutes. Even after waiting over 5 minutes, the bonus time doesn’t apply. Eventually I have to switch from kids profile to adult profile. That effectively defeats the purpose of even having a bonus time in the first place and prevent from healthy habits being formed.

I’m supposed to go to the parent dashboard to approve a request, but the dashboard is nowhere to be found and there are no instructions. I’ve been screwing around with this for 15 minutes and I can’t figure it out and I am a software engineer. All they had to do was highlight a link to the word dashboard and the instructions to go to the parents dashboard, and that would’ve been awesome. But the person designing this app doesn’t use it themselves.

This just appears to be a way to sell me other services but doesn't appear to do anything of the useful things I need to do. I still manually monitor and manage my child's device from the device itself and have nearly no mechanism for approving new apps except for using the website from a computer browser. I don't think that the service was well thought through in the product development stages.

Hard to find permissions and to load apps for the kids. Often times you can’t do what you need to do in the app itself it will redirect you to another. Three or four apps into it you may or may not have accomplished what you set out to do. Adding apps if you have permissions set to ask is daunting and time consuming.

Honestly once this fire tablet goes out of commission we’re not getting another one. Content I restrict still shows up. Changing screen time allowance is a whole process. There’s no option to add extra time for just that day, temporarily when it’s earned. (You have to just change the total allowance). And half of the time changing the allowed time doesn’t work the first or second time.

This app is a lot easier to use on my phone. There should be a select all option for shows I don’t want my daughter to watch. Instead of having to go through and select every single one in the settings. Very tedious but otherwise the app is fine.

I set up the times I allow her on her tablet and it doesn’t work. It either pauses during the day or allows her to play late at night. When I pause her screen for a few hours, when I click resume, I have to restart her device to get it to unlock. The passcode won’t work and neither will me hitting resume.

The request notifications do not come up. The red dot appears but when you click on it, it says there are no notifications. Very frustrating. I’ve tried deleting the app and downloading again but same thing. I can’t approve websites for my child to add. Really needs to be fixed. We paid $140 bucks and can’t even use the tablet as we should be able to.

I’ve been unable to do anything to adjust my children’s accounts now for almost a month. I submitted a bug report through customer service about a month ago, but still have yet to have anyone reach out to help me fix it. This was supposed to be one of the perks of getting the Fire Tablet. If this continues, I will likely cancel my subscription, and may consider returning the tablets as this is a deal breaker.

The app is ok, it’s a bit clunky to navigate and slow. But it works fine. What needs to be fixed is to include Alexa in the time limit. Right now it’s completely absent, and my kid is using Alexa when her time limit is up. So now I have to manually turn it off/on. Please fix.

We got the tablet for my son, but I blocked him from being able to add or download games, so I thought. He has downloaded so much stuff, fortunately it’s age appropriate. But now we can’t move stuff to the SD card to free up space. When we try to delete stuff it just redownloads it. I don’t know what to do.

Overall we are pretty disappointed with this interface. We had hoped to be able to easily curate which apps were available for our children to use, but there does not seem to be a way to display only the apps we’ve selected - there are continually “apps you might like” being offered that the kids can click and play. Very frustrating.

Commits the crime of making me think and sometimes completely failing. Multiple times I get messages to approve something and it's not in any list. Today I got one that app says check email, looking in email but the email sends to the app. Why isn't the UI clear, where is the list for approving apps, purchases? Alerts is clear sometimes even though approved is pending. App list is why to long for this. "Don't Make Me Think". It's a book every developer needs to read. Understand the concept. I don’t see why a whole new app was made for the parental controls. Don’t fix what wasn’t broken. I also can’t adjust the screen time settings. It pulls me out of the settings & back to the main menu. This was a waste of memory/space. I did notice I was able to put in the nicknames of the people she’s allowed to call. So there’s a positive.

I’ve spent a lot of time having to individually deselecting what shows they can watch. Would prefer if I could have an unselect all option. Being able to have more customization of the Home Screen would be nice too. It’s Pandora’s box at the moment and isn’t want we’re looking for as parents.

This app makes so many things difficult in setting up a usable kids account. Excessive glitches and nothing but walks to find fixes. Whatever you read in forums rarely helps. We don’t even use the tablet much, I spend more time attempting to fix it than anything else and give up more than I fixing.

These kids tablets are frustrating. When trying to get on an app it says it needs an update. When we try to update it says it won’t allow us on the App Store because it’s a kids tablet. I try to get on the parent account and it just keeps sending us on this endless loop. Would not recommend. Worth it to get an iPad and set up parent controls that way instead.

Besides defaulting to a random, unsortable list of content to filter, the list loads so few items at a time that NOBODY is going to be able to see ALL of it. But the real stupid thing is that NONE of the audio books my children have been listening to show up in their history. It’s like they don’t want you to see what their advertisers and sponsors are actually feeding your children.

So far ok (used for my toddler). I find the parent-initiated pause doesn’t work most of the time.

Every time my kids send a request to download something it will show the request but then fails to take me to the app to download. You should be able to show the apps your child has on their tablet on the homepage but you can’t. It’s so hard to navigate and I always find myself just shutting it off and getting frustrated when trying to accomplish anything.

Hate it. The fire tablet ran out of memory space in less than 6 months. It is almost useless now. It is not user friendly. I find it really hard to make any adjustments. Really don’t like it.

The app is not user friendly at all. The kids + subscription is supposed to come with kids audiobooks but it’s impossible to even find a list of books?! When I try to filter, they’re all books for small children and in French with no filter option for English. I will not be renewing a subscription. My kids hardly use their kids Alexa’s and instead continue to take the one from our living room.

We use to listen to books for bedtime and for some reason services have changed and now we can’t.

They need to completely overhaul this app. It is NOT user friendly despite what Amazon might think. Highly suggest they get a dozen patents that have average tech savvy to help them redesign. I’m in the tech industry and I find this app severely challenged.

A lot of work to figure out how to get the apps to work.. lots of error messages and seems to end up only on the bing browser which doesn’t work well.

No way to only allow books in Kids+ and disable all the apps, but still allow certain apps

Cannot select all apps/videos/etc you want to give or not permission. Filters are also useless. And lots apps/games that have to pay, even with Kids+ subscrition.

Why can’t I add a prime video app if it’s native to Amazon and I can lock it to just the kids profile?? This is ridiculous.

I find it horribly hard to navigate and impossible to get any of my purchased items from Amazon Prime onto my child’s tablet. Why is it so hard to get something from their own company onto their product?!

Doesn’t work consistently

Amazon needs to fix the issue on in app subscriptions for kids games. Even when it’s turned on to allow in app purchases a lot of ppl get the error msg and it’s denied. There are forums online about how it’s never worked for their customers. So be warned your favorite kids game may only be the beginning levels and you may never be able to unlock the later ones.

Very frustrating. I have my daughters tablet for a certain amount of time and hours. Since this new app was launched, the screen time settings randomly will turn off and she can access the tablet outside those set parameters. Sometimes she wakes up earlier than me and will have access when I don’t want her to! Very frustrating as I have 3 kids and I don’t always immediately notice and enable the limits again. PLEASE FIX THIS.

App is useless not user friendly

It lacks the most basic functionality. I cannot filter just to stuff I already downloaded for the kiddos. They keep clicking to download everything and running out of space and getting frustrated. The tablet is borderline unusable as the kids just get frustrated nothing works and give up. Small basic features would do wonders.

I need to delete one of my children’s profiles. The instructions in the Help menu were 1. Go to. 2…. But wait…go to where??? It was literally just “Go to.” Ridiculous.
