Scam drivers in Toronto1. when they offer the ride, the upfront earnings they show you include government tax and toll rout charges, etc. But no breakdown is given. So, you have to be highly skilled to calculate taxes and toll charges in few seconds. Lack of transparency.
2. When they offer the ride, they don’t show how long you may need from pickup to drop off location. Lack of transparency again and scam the drivers.
3. If the rider cancel the ride when are still on the way, you don’t get cancellation fee. Even if it’s been over 2 minutes you are driving toward the rider. Stealing from drivers.
4. When the ride was offered, didn’t show that there is a toll route. Once started the ride after picking up the rider, didn’t show/recommend any toll route. But after finishing the ride, pay was reduced. When contacted the agents, they say I didn’t use the toll road and hence pay is reduced. Stealing again from the drivers.
5. Highly unprofessional and untrained agents. No brain at all. Just copy-paste for every query and close the chat. Highly stupid support service agents.

Notifications require critical workI’d like to share some detailed feedback regarding the notification system in the Hopp driver app, based on real-world usage while driving.
Right now, notifications for new ride requests are very easy to miss when the app is not in the foreground. If I’m using another app such as music, navigation, or anything else, the incoming ride alert does not consistently appear as a prominent on-screen notification. More importantly, it does not interrupt or lower the volume of currently playing audio, which makes it very difficult to notice in time.
In contrast, other driver apps such as Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, and SkipTheDishes handle this much more effectively. They trigger a high-priority notification that:
- Visibly pops up over other apps
- Plays a distinct and loud alert sound
- Temporarily lowers or interrupts music/audio playback
- Grabs immediate attention so the driver can respond quickly
With the current behavior in the Hopp app, I’ve already missed multiple ride opportunities simply because I wasn’t actively looking at the screen at that exact moment. As a driver, this directly impacts earnings and overall experience on the platform.
I understand that Apple CarPlay integration may not yet be available, which is completely reasonable for a newer app. However, even without CarPlay, the iPhone itself should be able to deliver strong, high-priority notifications. At a minimum, the app should:
- Use critical or time-sensitive notifications (where permitted)
- Trigger an audible alert that overrides or ducks background audio
- Display a full-screen or banner-style alert immediately
- Ensure reliability when running in the background
This is not just a convenience feature — it’s essential for driver usability and safety. Drivers should not have to constantly stare at their phones to avoid missing work. The app should actively and clearly notify them.
Improving this one area would significantly enhance the driver experience and make the platform much more competitive with established apps.

Scamming DriversThese app and its customer services are really bad. They do whatever they want. If they like, they answer, if they don’t they won’t. They pick up the call and hang up anytime they want. They close the chat if they didn’t like. I really never seen such irresponsible team.
Also, the rider messed my car by vomiting. I report the mess, their agent told me to do cleaning and share the receipt to compensate it. Once I did, they said we are not paying you. And no one taking responsibility that why they refer me to do cleaning.

Unfair Pay & No Support for DriversI drive with Hopp Driver App and the pay is very unfair.
They offered me $23 for a 63 km trip from Brampton to Scarborough, which took 1 hour and 9 minutes. After finishing the ride, I contacted support because the pricing was clearly unfair. The agent told me the price was “correct” and dismissed my concern even though the rider was charged $45.
Many times, they take money from my balance and refund the rider for very small or unfair reasons. For example, if a rider says I didn’t wait and gets charged a cancellation fee, they refund the rider and take the money back from me without proper investigation.
One time, a rider left their bag in my car. I drove back to return it, but the rider was refunded the full fare, and I was not paid for the extra driving time or distance. This is extremely unfair. Drivers are not responsible for passengers’ personal mistakes, and at the very least, drivers should be compensated for going out of their way to help.
If you want to refund a rider give them your part of money don’t decide on behalf of me without my permission because you never pay for my gas ,insurance, car depreciation,maintenance etc I do!
Overall, this company does not treat drivers fairly. The pay is low, support is dismissive, and drivers are expected to absorb losses for issues that are not their fault. Very disappointing experience..Truthonly26Version: 129.0
Reject documentsThis is honestly one of the most frustrating and poorly managed apps I have ever used. The customer support is almost useless. I uploaded the same documents over 100 times and they kept rejecting them without giving any clear or consistent reason.
What makes it worse is that the exact same documents were approved within minutes by Uber, which shows the issue is clearly with this app’s broken verification system.
There is no real help, no proper guidance, and no accountability. Every response feels automated and generic. Instead of solving problems, they just keep repeating the same rejection message.
This app wastes your time, delays your work, and creates unnecessary stress. I strongly recommend people avoid using it until they fix their system and train their support team properly.
