Google TV: Watch Movies & TV Customer Service

This app is smooth and has an easy-to-navigate layout, but I’m hoping that in time there will eventually be an option to remove shows and/or movies from the “Continue Watching” section of my Home Screen? Also it’d be very nice to be able to track each specific episode of the TV shows I’m watching as I finish a single episode at a time, not just each show in their entirety. Other than that, I really like the app - maybe it could expand to include even more streaming services as movie or TV show sources, but I have no suggestions outside of that.

I use this app particularly for the remote. It’s the most user friendly remote I could find for my google tv. I love it for that reason and because of the purchasing movie Amal’s shows options. I’m giving it 4 stars tho because of one imperfection I’ve noticed. When I use the remote and try to control the volume it doesn’t seem to work. Everything else but the volume works. I can’t mute it, turn it down or up. It’s just an inconvenience because anytime I need to mute it or change to volume I have to get up and turn control it from the buttons on my tv which barely censor.

I only use this app for a remote for my google tv. Works well but there is a constant bug. When I leave the app it seems to think the swipe to home means a movement on the remote. Which makes the remote go to the left corner every time either causing media controls to pop up or the media I’ve been playing to restart. Not aggravating just annoying. Otherwise the remote works well.

The app runs smooth, and they have made several changes that have made the experience better in my opinion. Although there are still some titles in my library that do not show cover art. And I would suggest that when showing titles in alphabetical form, don’t group all titles that have the word “The” in the beginning of the title together.

Honestly if it remembered the show’s and movies I have already watched it would be awesome however I keep getting suggestions repeatedly of things I have already viewed but it is nice having most everything in one place to look through.

I wanted to find this show I have been looking for years but it won’t let me watch it because it’s locked I want it to be free to watch anytime of the day I think that’s what would make the app a lot better for me and other people.

I have on both Apple devices(phone and iPad) nothing . where my Google Movie Library’s should be is a blank page. This is not a functioning app. I can’t even talk to anyone…..Google or Apple….I hope the come up with a better operating system than you both!!!!!

Y did you remove the option to watch in full screen when people have expensive phones that can show this resolution etc

Unbelievable new designed for the remote for your TV on their app which uses a mouse like stroller. Just works terrific whoever developed it great job.

Sometimes your TV asks you to hold a button (“you need to sign into this network, hold HOME for more information”) and you can’t do that on this app

I realized after a while that while using the Google tv app you can’t open Netflix. You can open every other app but Netflix which is really frustrating leading me to use the Netflix app, which is fine but I just wish there was a direct way to Netflix instead of using different apps that work for all streaming platforms. Other than that the app is okay it just takes a really long time for it to load up and sync to the tv properly.

I only use this when I can't find the Bluetooth remote at a moment, so the "Turn on Bluetooth" prompt happens a bit too often for my liking, especially when I don't even have the app open.

It’s good when it works and that’s the rub. Ultimately it doesn’t deliver. It can’t find televisions and sporadically cuts in a program requiring a code to be entered for pairing. Too bad. Update - that earlier 2 star review was from September 5. The inconsistency has now gone - it just doesn’t work at all. New update - now it’s working.

I have found that some movies and tv shows play. I have found that some movies and tv shows will not play and I end up with a message saying there is an error. This needs to be fixed ASAP!!!!

I often spend money to purchase material to watch if my favorites. However, I have receipts of things I purchased and was able to view it on my library and then go back to watch later and it’s no longer present. I go back to look at how to retrieve my purchase and it says after so many days it’s no longer retrievable as the warranty is no longer valid. So basically I paid for the purchase to have for ever yet I really paid for it to rent because I can’t get it again. So irritated. I don’t have money to just give to you Google especially when I’m a valuable client who purchases a lot. Then, I had to make two accounts because my other one won’t even let me buy anything anymore. I’m not sure if I’ve purchased too much on that account so I had to make another? Not sure but I didn’t use to have so many issues until just recently and it’s not making me really happy. If it continues I’ll just start going with Apple products which I prefer Google.

The app would have been a good start 5 years ago but when comparing to ReelGood or JustWatch it simply is light years behind. Design wise it certainly doesn’t fit well on iOS. Most importantly you can’t track episodes of seasons. Only supports a limited number of services. For You or Your Stuff should be the default page not Highlights which is just filler. Ideally more blended together. In the end can’t hold a candle to ReelGood and it’s strength of course is being built into GoogleTV so it’s the one we all want to want to use but google makes thst difficult. The only other benefit is it’s search feature is far better than the competitors. You can misname or type but it knows what you mean and you can search for movies similar to another which works well. I don’t expect to see much progress in this app which is too bad since the TV ui on Google TV is much better.

One of the biggest reasons I would purchase movies from this app was because google was “universal” no matter the platform/device I was using. Also it was so I could download movies for offline use when traveling, camping, etc. When I try to download a movie it almost never works and if it even says that it did download, it wont let me play the video. Why is there even a download button in the first place if it doesn’t work? I don’t want a “sorry to hear that” or a “give us your feedback” or a “Here’s a troubleshooting guide” robot reaponse. I want you to fix the app. If you look at all the recent reviews, there aren’t many good ratings….. I think that should be a tell tale sign for you to fix your app for your customers. I feel like this should not really happen with a company this big. Please address this issue.

The experience of watching a movie I rented through this app has been my worst streaming experience of all time. Currently, the movie is paused while I’m typing this due to poor quality streaming and buffering. The movie keeps pausing every few minutes, for at least a minute or more at a time. Typically, I use other streaming services and have never had this issue before. Additionally, once I rented the movie, I was not able to play it directly on Google play on my TV, and I instead had to download the Google play app on my mobile device, just so I could cast the movie to my tv. It has been a pain to say the least. I will be steering clear of this app in the future and do not recommend it.

C’mon Google, this app is far below your app standard for bug free user experience. Why are you not giving this app the love it deserves? My use case: I bought an entire season of one TV show. I sometimes stop watching mid-episode. It’s pretty much the only thing I’m watching on the app at the moment. I simply want to return to the app and get the show and episode I was watching to start up where I last left off… Instead, I get: - app sometimes does and sometimes doesn’t recommend the last show I was watching. - when it doesn’t remember, I have to dig and scroll scroll scroll in “Your Stuff” tab to find it. - then, HALF the time, not all of the episodes are appearing in the list. (I bought episodes one by one for a while, before finally buying the whole season). - in these cases, I have to go into my Profile > Settings > Reset application data. App restarts and then nothing is remembered about which episode and where at in it I left off. (I’ve had to do this 5-10 times.) - finally, my full episodes list is back. Nothing is remembered. The text character limit is too short (often cut off with ellipses, not resized..) so I have to guess because I can’t read enough to get what an episode title is. Design thing. - anyways, finally, I GUESS which episode it was where I left off. I press play. It takes a LOONG time to connect via Chromecast (c’min, that’s your tech…) - finally, it connects. Now, I try to skip forward, but the progress bar is SO SMALL, and shortened/cutoff by text…that I have to turn my phone sideways to get into landscape mode so that the progress bar is actually usable. - WHEN I do this, go into landscape mode, THE APP FREEZES, and I can’t get out of this frozen, broken view. Have to kill the app and restart at this point. C’mon, my Google friends. Do you need me to write these QA test cases, fix these UX design bugs, and ship a Google-quality product for you?

Used to like this until I started purchasing shows . They purposely only put a couple of shoes per season on so that you have to buy the entire season sometimes consisting of only two shows n have to wait for months on end for the other episodes and their never in a row ! U only get like episode 2 and 8 . This is so that you will have to purchase the shows by episode & pay way more. Still even if you purchase by the episode you still have to watch like 2 shows in one season 6 on another and then 3 on another either way no consistency and highway robbery :(

EDIT: The app actually isn't losing connection cause I see that it shows being connected to my google tv. Instead the app just arbitrarily decides that I don't need the remote as I'm actively using it and just causes it to disappear. I can't use the remote feature for more than 15 seconds without it disappearing on me and having cycle through disconnect and reconnect and force close and opening etc to get the remote back. Truly terrible app. Can't reliably do the one thing I need it to. I connect to my tv, then it drops connection as I'm using the remote. I then choose my tv to reconnect and it just loads forever. Getting a google tv had already proven to be a mistake, and the fact that their app can't even function properly as a remote, is just the cherry on top. Should have stuck with Roku. Learned my lesson. In fact, I would be using my Roku plugged into this tv except the tv also doesn't accept the Roku despite it working on other tvs.

After renting a movie its almost impossible to watch, i have full service on my device and every five or so minutes the movie will freeze. it will not allow me to use screen mirroring to watch movies on my TV, and when i try to use the in app casting feature it simply never loads. im pretty disappointed as i was very excited to use this streaming platform to watch a few movies that i could not find streaming elsewhere but the loading and buffering times are just too long.

Why am I required to go to another streaming service to watch what I know for a fact that I paid for? I was unaware of this until a few moments ago when I attempted to watch a movie to pass the time on a long train 🚊 ride (some movies show as they should in the Google TV app, some I have to go to other streaming services like “Peacock” or “YouTube”…Why?) Why must I watch over 180 seconds of commercials before I watch my movie on “Peacock” I will change my review upon my satisfaction with your answer to my inquiry.💭🤔🤨🤦🏿‍♂️

Why I can only see certain episodes that I’ve purchased on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta I don’t know what’s going on I purchased the whole Season 10 and I can’t even watch it it’s something totally different half the episodes are locked I purchased Season 11 episodes 1-9 and can only watch maybe 3 episodes the rest are locked if I push watch to look at a episode and it goes to google tv I can’t get episode I purchased can you please fix this issue it’s been like this for months I should be able to go straight to whatever episode I purchased

The app itself is fine and mostly does its job except— the remote function doesn’t always work. It glitches in and out and sometimes the remote option is gone all together. If anyone knows how to fix this at all please let me know. The only thing that has helped thus far is constantly powering off my phone which is inconvenient. I know for a fact it is compatible, by the way, because it does work SOMETIMES.

This is definitely one of googles less polished applications. When it functions properly it’s useful despite being unintuitive and a bit clunky/laggy at times. That being said as of about a week ago it stopped allowing me to select shows on my phone and send them to my TV even thought it shows connected at the bottom on top of that it no longer displays the remote icon in the tool tray and I have zero ability to control any tv functions from my phone.

The best thing I can say about this app is it works smoothly. It’s not buggy, or constantly disconnecting. However, it’s very limited in its capabilities. For instance, it’d be nice to be able to click on the icon of the app you want to launch. Other apps such as FireTV or Roku allow for this. It’d also be nice to be able to access tv settings via app. Pretty much all this app contains is the power button, volume, and a control pad.

I don’t understand why change up everything on an app that worked well. The remote feature is completely changed, yet doesn’t work anymore. The update ruined the app, it doesn’t even show a remote option most the time, but a third party app will work. Even when it works the app gets stuck on haptic vibrations and keeps registering pushing the up arrow button even though I’m not touching it. Switching over to 3rd party remote app until Google can get it together

This app I downloaded to watch a certain movie and had to pay 5$ for. The movie started then would stop and just play the sound. If you restart it it will do the same thing. And if you just wait for it to catch up with its self it won’t. I’ve been dying to watch this and I finally payed for it and I’m wasting my money trying to watch it. This is very frustrating. I have done everything in the books with this app.

For 5 months, I’ve submitted support tickets regarding the following issue: when you click play on the movie Ocean’s Twelve, it says it is playing Ocean’s Twelve, but the actual movie that begins is Thirteen. Additionally, if you click play on the movie Ocean’s Thirteen, it says it is playing Ocean’s Twelve, yet it plays Ocean’s Thirteen… I paid for both of these movies, yet I don’t have access to Twelve, and Thirteen is incorrectly labeled. I expect these issues from a joke mom-n-pop company’s app, not from Google.

This happens on my 13 pro and my iPad as but not my S25+, but I cannot download my purchased content. I am prompted with a "choose download quality" prompt but regardless of tapping apply or cancel, the prompt will not disappear and I cannot download my purchased movies. Please fix this or guide me to fixing. I've already tried updating to the latest google tv version as well as deleting the app, rebooting my phone, then reinstalling the app.

I can never open the app, connect to the tv, and get access to the remote. I have to open the Apple Remote app in order to get access to the google tv remote in app. It makes no sense. And if I leave the google tv app without closing the application, the remote disappears even though my tv is still connected. Instead, there will be a blank pop up that says “no content”. Worthless app.

I do like this app for buying movies, but my only problem is when you “download for offline viewing” it doesn’t actually work. It’ll still ask you to be connected to the internet. I’ve gone camping or stayed in a hotel and tried to watch movies I’ve downloaded on the app on my iPad and they simply don’t work.

Ordered Yellowstone season 5 part 1 a year ago tried to refresh before part 2 came out and couldn’t watch episodes 3-8. I reached out to customer service and 6 days later they are still locked . I asked for a refund and google’s customer service wouldn’t provide one. I’m now on day 8 of my issue and episodes are still locked. Decided to order the season on prime and it worked with no issues.

The app is perfect except for the lack of a mouse/touchpad feature. It already has a virtual keyboard feature which is great. All it needs is a mouse/touchpad feature to control a cursor on the Google tv and make it easier to use a web browser. If they added that I would give 5 stars

I haven’t heard from you guys since you refunded me for a few of the many movies I can’t download. When will I get the rest? I just tried to download one again to see if your update did anything out of curiosity and still can’t download! Terrible app! Terrible customer service! Bad business all around! It hasn’t worked for a very long time! I want my refund ASAP!

When I connect to my Google tv, the app doesn’t always show the remote icon right away. But when it works, it works! One thing I would REALLY love is a quick access button to my inputs/app shortcuts. I can’t believe they left that option out of this app. It would be super helpful.

I got a card for my birthday and wanted to buy movies for my 13th birthday with my friends but they were too expensive and sold out because everyone wanted to watch them including Me I Also wanted to watch twilight so bad but I didn’t get to and it kept saying you can not buy this movie and when I tried the Remote Control it started and kept turning off my tv I was highly annoyed and confused i DONT LIKE THIS APP.

Just don’t even try to use this app in general on an iPhone. Virtually never finds devices. When it does find devices, I can’t get a movie to play. You can bet that trailers will play, just can’t watch the movies you buy. You also can’t share with the family group anymore through the app, I kept sharing and nothing was showing up for the other people in the group.

The remote feature that connects to your phone is glitching or something but it just disappears randomly and sometimes won’t load please bring back the freaking remote button option that opens the remote on your phone :(

Some episodes of shows I’ve purchased are not available in this app, but are available in the web browser. The annoying thing is that I have to watch the matting episodes on my Mac because the universal links automatically open the app. I don’t know why Google tv and Google play are not in sync, but it is super annoying.

Ever since google play was “upgraded” to the google home platform there has been one glitch after another. Either a movie purchased with google play lingers in purgatory forever or it no longer casts. I have been using google chrome sticks on several televisions in my home for over 10 years and referred many to them, at this juncture wish I hadn’t.

I should have gone with a Roku system TV. The app only works like 1% of the time if you want to use the app to control the tv and the other 99% of the time it has to be with the remote. It pairs with my phone without any issue but does not ever pull up the remote function.

Used to Love this app but the recent updates seems to have gotten rid of the ‘Copy and Paste’ Feature from Phone to the Tv. Unless there’s a setting im missing from the app to turn this feature on, I have to now type out all the long text from the phone on tv. Why even get rid of such a critical feature?? Simply annoying!!! Smh

I own two TCL televisions equipped with Google TV in my living space. Although I anticipated that this application would address my remote control concerns, regrettably, its usage has resulted in increased frustration. The virtual remotes frequently vanish during use, rendering me unable to control either television. A cursory online investigation reveals that this is a recognized and persistent issue that remains unresolved by the developers.

The app works well for looking for content. The play back leaves a lot to be desired. Play back stops every 30to 40 seconds to buffer. Just got “ Sorry we’re having trouble playing this video. Give it a try later. (Code310)” while watching a purchased video ( Dune 2). I am sorry I purchased this one though Google TV.

Horribly glitchy all the time to the point where it barely works. Also the remote in general for the TV is absolutely terrible as it only has about 5 buttons making some functions on certain streaming services either 10x longer to utilize or impossible. Also somehow the remote turns off the TV or exits the media randomly.

This app is the only remote i have for my tv and it works, just not all the time. My bf and i both have the app and when it’s not working for one of us typically it works for the other. Unfortunately for me he’s at work and my app isn’t working, so i don’t get to watch tv until he gets home. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING.

I use to love this app, cause my remote worked on here for my tv. But the last few months it would be hit or miss actually getting it to connect. Now we can’t ever get it to connect. I’d love if that got fixed so I could go back to 5 star loving it

Too many bugs to list, however; the remote control is extremely intermittent, apparently non-compatible with numerous applications. Frustrating to say the least. It begins functioning and then decides it doesn’t and goes away and requires 10-20 sometimes 45 minutes to get the functionality back.

Tired of not being able to use the app offline when I have movies downloaded. Content only plays at 1080p. Can’t stream 4k, app doesn’t move to external screen properly to play local full screen 4k, every time I attempt to use this app I have to find an alternative to enjoy paid content at the quality supported.

I purchased an entire season of a show when the season started, but the past 4 weeks of episodes still only show up on my account on the actual site, not the app. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and NOTHING, and it won’t let me actually stream from the site it redirects me to the app. What a waste of money

I purchased an entire season of a TV show and I can’t watch it due to an error stating that I should restart the app to fix the issue. No. Nothing is fixed l after following these directions and I’m going on Week Two with no resolution. Debating if I should dispute the charge for services purchased but not rendered. Steer clear.

The app crashes constantly. I only downloaded this app to get some episodes of my favorite show to download. The episodes wont download. I contacted technical support who have provided some of the worst assistance I have witnessed in quite a while. Im going to purchase the episodes elsewhere and delete this useless app.

I no longer have the option to watch / stream my purchased movies on my apple devices ( iphone / ipad ) or stream them to nearby devices. I have only the option to watch / stream them via additional streaming apps or to download them to my device.

Everything was fine on Google Film and since the change to Google Tv , lost all my digital collection , i have picture , proof of ownership , actual blu-ray disk with the promo code for digital film and still 15 days layer with over 25 email exchange nothing is fix

It has been years now that they still cannot get the icons for all of my films to show, some cases the name and the icon does not show. I have sent in emails, screen shots etc and still wait. I can download the film and watch it, but shouldn’t a library show correctly? I have the latest version, IOS, newer iPad & iPhone, also with YouTube, why on the Apple TV are the shows not in alphabetical order? LIKE I SAID YEARS.

I’d give this zero stars if allowed. I have constant problems getting movies to play and forget about trying to watch downloaded movies offline. Don’t waste your time or money on this garbage app.

It was great… until it wasn’t. Now that the only useful feature on this app no longer works, there’s no point in using it.

Asks for permission to see all connected and nearby Bluetooth device permissions 2-5 times a week, out of nowhere.

I’ve been attempting to use this for years. I literally have a brand new iPhone 16. My phone is not the problem. This thing works maybe 20% of the time as a TV remote for my TV just completely useless. I’ve deleted the app now I’m just gonna use the remote but like that every now and again when I lose it, I try and use it and 9×10 does not work.

Makes me regret buying a TCL TV. have to hunt a better IOS remote control app now.

I have movies I own that force me to use this platform and they won’t play or download. I own these and I should have access to them.

When it’s connected to the TV volume button doesn’t work, but if I have the actual Googletv remote it does from Google TV

Offline movie download still doesn’t work. Always core media error domain error

For some reason this app will work perfectly fine one day and the next I get a error message. I don’t always have cell service where I work, on breaks I will watch a show I downloaded or movie. The error is 42800. The only way I have resolved this issue is to redownload the show when I get back home. Very frustrating experience. Do better google!!

Can’t buy on the app. Go into browser now I have to buy through YouTube just to have it in this app. Download movies for offline watching but it always takes forever and conveniently stops working after a little time has passed so I have to redownload things. Oh and even after it’s downloaded you have to start the movie with a connection for some dumb reason as if there was no point to downloading in the first place

Dont force me to use wifi to dowload. I have unlimited data. Let me make that decision. Might stop buying on google and swifch to apple tv. they give the option.

IPhone 15 Pro Max does not let me purchase TV shows and movies that are not otherwise available, but this was possible on my old Samsung Galaxy 10e. Why? Can this be fixed?

This app constantly crashes, movies I’ve paid for are unwatchable or crash or get stuck loading regardless if I’m watching them streaming or downloaded. Considering how many apps play videos these days, I expected far better. It’s just such a disappointment, especially from Google. The only reason I have this app is to play movies I love and it can’t even manage that one. On Apple products, this app simply can’t compete with Apple’s branded tv app.

I am disappointed in this app. After the last update I can no longer play any of my purchased movies. Google TV sends me to other providers which asks me to pay for movies I have already purchased (via Google TV). Not liking this app. It appears I have lost access to all that I have purchased.

They take away the movies you buy and you have to re-purchase them again without notifying you. Worst piece of rubbish!

The app asks me to play something else to get the playback controls to display. That doesn’t make any sense. I want the controls for what is playing right now.

Please in the next app update make it so you can delete unwanted movies and tv shows option so you can free up space

I downloaded 5 episodes of a show to watch on a road trip, couldn’t play them. The shows & movies I own on wifi pause & buffer randomly but never play through without issues. I’ve had to delete & reinstall this app 4 times tonight to get episodes to play all the way through. Don’t waste your time or money …

Previously I was able to play shows back on iPhone on Google tv for the ones I purchased from Google before. Now I cannot do it anymore. Please fix this problem

I purchased a bunch of movies just to have the app shut down on me and the subtitles don’t work in the movies when I turn them on. In my opinion it’s not worth spending money just for it not to work.

Tried to download movies two days before flying, still hasn’t passed 5% on each. With WiFi and cell networks. App won’t even load while in airplane mode.

This app sometimes will not allow you to watch a movie that you DOWNLOADED unless you connect to wifi. What else can I say. Absolute garbage - I wish every movie I bought on blu ray gave an Apple download so I wouldn’t have to use this sorry excuse for a movie app. Another thing this app doesn’t allow you to extend the screen when watching something either. If I could I’d give this app -5 what the actual __ are GOOGLE doing with this app. You’d think a company like this would have stellar 5 star across the board but I guess this is the trash they don’t pay attention to

I spent hundreds of dollars on my favourite shows and I can’t access any of them, this app is a rip off, trying to get answers just sends you in circles

I have to have my data on to watch my already downloaded movie. I also have to close the app and restart it to continue watching the movie when it pauses (buffering). This 1 star is for the app, not the movies I watch. Apple TV app is much better because it doesn’t require me to have data on in order for me to watch an already downloaded movie, and therefore doesn’t pause due to buffering.

I wouldn't give it on star. Wished I would have read a few reviews before I downloaded the piece of crap. Watching a movie the app freezes up & quits & quits. Why would Apple allow this on the store? Save yourself the wasted emotional energy.

The app only works when it wants to, the remote function won’t work once you open Netflix, the sense like a good idea but it’s slow and unreliable and makes me wonder why Google releases things that don’t work as advertised

Can’t even play purchases movies/shows without downloading them. Video will stop after 20 seconds while the sound continues.

I have a few dozen movies downloaded and can’t watch any of them. Keep trying, keep getting error messages, very disappointing.

I have had nothing but issues trying to access movies I’ve purchased and having to repeatedly download them due to some change made in the app. I’ve sought help with this and have not received ONE RESPONSE.

I don’t get why it’s constantly crashing the picture quality is horrible and downloads are very spotty
