Very handy

Have only used it one time the other day but it’s pretty dang awesome, I use it in conjunction with a lowrance hook 2 5x I have mounted on my boat. I love the fact that I can use it with my bass boat or with my Jon boat. It was 99.9% spot on with regards to depth, water temp and fish swimming by I haven’t tried casting it, I have it tethered to 50 ft of military 550 cord and when I find a place then I throw it out on the side. The app is simple stupid to setup and use. It is water activated. Bought mine on sale for $100 at bass pro.

Overall effective & convenient

I’ve been using this device for a couple of months now. The unit is small and easy to use, just attach a leash and pop it in the water. I use it from my pontoon boat when I fly fish for trout in lakes. The user interface is fairly intuitive and the quality of the underwater view is generally excellent. I prefer the RAW setting. Battery life is basically all day, but the unit will drain your phone battery. Bring a power bank to charge your phone if you’ll be using this for more than 4-5 hours. Charging the unit is simple, but hate that it uses a proprietary connector! Garmin, incorporate a USB C connector so I’m not screwed if I lose the included charge cord! Also, make sure the connector plug on the unit is completely dry when you plug in the charge cord. One issue I have with the screen is the depth and temp readouts are extremely small and hard to read. If your phone is in the sun, good luck trying to see depth and temp. These two readouts should be much larger. Overall I’m really happy with this unit and it’s so much easier to use than my old Fishin Buddy. I plan on using this in my boat as well, though I’ll use my iPad and will have a large screen readout to enjoy. Highly recommended.

Bank fisherman’s must have

This unit is worth the money if you set all the functions per the app for your fishing conditions. Like any tech device you need to get it dialed in correctly before it will preform it’s capabilities. I bought the base model because I didn’t need GPS the first time I used it I marked fish with it the water temp and depth were accurate was glad I had it along with us would never leave home with out it just another important tool for my fishing arsenal. Thanks Garmin

Exactly what I was looking for

I was just looking for an affordable depth finder for ice fishing and I came across this. Does exactly what I wanted it to do plus it’s a fish finder and it connects to your phone or tablet so your screen is as big as you want and far superior to anything that I’ve seen. It’s not as refined as more expensive units but it does what it says it’ll do and fits in your pocket.

Great Flasher

Love this for ice fishing, today’s my first day using it and have already caught fish that I probably wouldn’t have known were even near my jig before. Great detail and no lag, I was worried but pleasantly surprised. Con: Flasher works best when still as possible, still works fine when floating around; but a small light mount etc. to hold it in place would be a great accessory.

Filling a weak point in knowing where fish are

I use the device fishing from piers which I kind of hard to guess on, like you can go by what you read/historical info, but knowing they’re between 5-10 feet is huge especially when you’re choosing lures and only have a certain window to fish

Pollaski_jVersion: 1.5
The Striker Cast devices are awesome!!

If you fish from shore, a kayak, or even a small boat, you’d like using a Garmin Striker Cast. This app allows you you turn your phone into a fish finder when paired with either a white non GPS Striker Cast, or a blue GPS enabled Striker Cast. The GPS version even allows you to create a lake map! Love this app!

J-WaukVersion: 1.5
Quick, Easy, and Accurate.

No joke, this is genuinely a great app/ product. Garmin makes the function super quick and easy to use, and the accuracy of fish detection is on point. Best affordable fish sonar on the market. You won’t be disappointed, trust me.

9up5hitVersion: 1.6
Great unit, needs audio fish alarm

Very pleased with it. First day using my Striker Cast GPS. Nice depth readouts and sonar seems very good, although like others have said I do wish there was a fish alarm. (Audio.) I would think this would be fairly simple to add (Garmin) please and thank you. Other than that, so far I am happy. 4 stars until fish beep is added :-D

Awesome piece of equipment!

Looking forward to the details that this will give us on our shore fishing experience! We also icefish ! Just don’t have a boat yet , so for my birthday, my girlfriend bought this for me as a gift ! We are excited!

Surprised

First time using it tonight. Was worried about it coming off the line so I used 50lb braid on a spinning rod I used for Salmon in Alaska. It was windy and choppy but as long as I reeled slow and let it keep up it was amazing. Bet it works flawlessly on smooth waters.

Ediddy1975Version: 1.3
Striker cast

It has been awesome the last 2 years to see the depth, water temps and seeing the fish. However, it has started to not be as accurate lately. We have to restart it allot to get it to work. I wonder if we need an update for it or something.

Easiest multi-use sonar

So simple to use. So far, I have used it ice fishing and I can pop it in my pocket and switch holes easily! Looking forward to trying it from my kayak when the ice is off.

Great product

Works like it should, nice and convenient to have and see what depth fish are and water temperature. Have caught a lot of fish because of it! Nice to know your not fishing dead water!

Juan carlos srVersion: 1.6
Excellent product

The first time I used it was easy to hook up and use. Scanned the water and boom caught fish where Garmin showed. Highly recommended for bank fishing.

Tdemo23Version: 1.5
Good but needs added features

No updates for a year! Would be nice to give fish size. An option to have an alarm go off when a fish arrives at the scene would also be great.

Ice fishing must have

Everything with the app is simple and straightforward. All works as designed. Very simple to navigate menu. The fish finder on my Iphone SE 2020 works great. I could see the fish approach the bait.

Fish-n-huntVersion: 1.4
Stryker cast

So far has worked great. For under $200 you really can’t complain. Tells water temp and depth and objects in water are pretty well defined. No complaints

@reddyforfunVersion: 1.4
Good

Great app. Would like to have individual counties named or even outlined on the regular map and not just the community download screen. Also wouldn’t mind being able tomalley a couple more depth ranges.

F5gccvcfvvcbbc nVersion: 1.6
Very convenient app

Accurate, user friendly, great value for the device itself

RemySVTVersion: 1.5
Good for kayaks

It does everything that I need it to. It shows where the fish are suspended depth and temp. With that info you should be able to catch fish.

Joe123433Version: 1.3
First impression

I am impressed, the sonar is better than my 5cv, will try behind the boat later hope it is as good

RobBarlowVersion: 1.5
Fun!

If you’re familiar with the benefits of a sonar fish finder on a boat, you’ll appreciate that technology coming to bridge, dock or kayak fishing. Very cool to see where the fish are, what is depth & temperature of the water. Fun, even if you don’t get a nibble.

BugBittenVersion: 1.3
What a heck of a sonar

Just recently purchased this sonar at Carolina Bait and Tackle in North Carolina and this is an amazing sonar especially in demo mode I recommend this sonar for for any one with a kayak or small boat

Watchdog10Version: 1.4
Very impressed

Easy to navigate and use. Quality sonar and mapping works well.

It is a great tool to help find fish and catch them and it’s not super expensive like the other Garmin devices

Crazy cool

I bought this fish finder with low expectations. It totally blew my mind how versatile and accurate it is. Well worth the money!

A lot of the small lakes in South Dakota have not been mapped so depth readings are not available the striker GPS version amazing

Great

Is there a way to figure out the sizes of the fish I be seeing showing? Was fishing for yellow perch and is there a way to figure out a perch from a catfish to a bass and snakeheads?

Works great would recommend

WwwweeeeerrwetVersion: 1.6
Great for beginners

I have used this for about 3 years. For what this is intended for, it is great at a great price. The gps is more accurate with better cell reception. Clarity on the flasher setting makes it a little more difficult to see targets. I think this has to do with it being older sonar. Aside from that the traditional view works all year, I have been able to use it effectively for ice fishing. You get what you pay for!

Trouter64Version: 1.4
Great product for the price

Easy to use overall. mapping works phenomenal, Sonar works phenomenal. For the price of the striker cast I couldn’t be happier

ANONNONYMIUSVersion: 1.6

Works great

I got a striker cast for Christmas and it works perfectly and the app works great too. Has lots of great features and was super easy set up. Great for the price.

Pgdrew1Version: 1.4
Small but mighty

Took into a remote lake in Northwest Ontario and it worked fantastic. Used it initially for just depth but once I got into it, it became a lot more. Used again in a river I fish all the time and this time I cast it out to a spot I don’t normally fish and it marks fish. Casted my Lure out and caught…. what more can you ask?? Trying it ice fishing this year.

STRIKER™ Cast Negative Reviews and Ratings

Great but Need an update

After playing around with it, it’s nice when it works, in my kayak to work properly i need to paddle very slow, after all, it’s really good but the app need an update, it’s been a year right now with no update i like to see a fish alarm in the update, because you cannot keep your eyes on the screen all the time, it would be better If you can hear the fish alarm. Comparing to Deeper sonar they have an update almost every three months, i thing Garmin are to lazy to improve there App, nice hardware but the App need an update to work better. And why there is no information anywhere about the battery life cycle, because I need to know what I’m gonna do if the battery dead completely the lifecycle it’s finish I mean, do I need to throw it away if this is your answer that’s not good you need to have an option to change the battery when it’s completely dead like deeper sonar do, if you want to be competitive.

Sam567Version: 1.4
Handy, but missing basic features in the app

Had this a couple years now and mostly use it for ice fishing. The device works really well, but the app leaves me wanting. I use Navionics Boating (also a Garmin app) and seriously wish that there was some integration. Short of that, the Striker Cast app desperately needs to allow downloading a base map or satellite imagery for offline use. The Striker Cast is perfect for packing into remote backcountry lakes, but even though the mapping capabilities are fantastic, there is no view of shorelines or any other reference points until I get back to cell service or wifi. Even after that it’s gone the next time I’m on the water which is extremely frustrating.

USNRasVersion: 1.5
Great product when it works

Had this product for about a year and it is really awesome, when it works. Unfortunately I’ve had connectivity issues with it more often than not. My cell phone will have three bars and still no connection. Other than that, it’s simple to use and the battery lasts a long time.

Pas250Version: 1.5
Won't load without cell service

I can't tell if my striker is any good because I can't use the app without cell service (it never launches). An app designed to be used in the outdoors shouldn't need cell service to function. The lake I typically fish has very little coverage so I haven't been able to use my striker.

DerpanJonesVersion: 1.3
Waste of money

I have had the deeper Casting and the Garmin striker. Both lasted less than 6-12 uses. Do not waste your money! On either of there’s. Did work great the couple of times it worked though.

Junk X2Version: 1.5
Give us more!

I really want this to be my wilderness canoe fishing solution. It’s close, but not quite there. Some things I miss from my Striker 4 CV: -travel speed. This is a gps dependent calculation. Why not add that layer to this device output? -split map and sonar. This seems like a simple app update. -easy marker placement from any screen.

IKedorVersion: 1.6
Should be able to track the device if lost

How the heck do I find it if It doesn’t show up on the phone where it’s location is.

Fishing for crackVersion: 1.3
Old software

They need recuiting programmer for active 3D, still use 2D since 1900 lol

?

Won’t allow me to create an account so kinda pointless

Mike's touch62Version: 1.5
Great form factor

I like the compact size and functionality but having it occasionally demand a login when I’m fishing in an area with poor or no cell service is maddening.

Not hot dogVersion: 1.4
Love the finder. Nice to tie with canoe.

Pros great clarity of the fish and depth location. Great if jigging. The finder track my lure as a fish up and down. Cons. If you troll too fast in canoe it disconnects. Wish the app had option to activate satellite mapping when reviewing gps data with pre download for offline viewing.
