Garmin Dive™ App Comments & Reviews
Garmin Dive™ Positive Reviews
I love this dive computer!!!!Just took the MK2i diving to Bonaire. It's taking me while to learn how to use this, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. The garmin dive app makes it easy to log dives- which automatically get posted- then can be edited using the app. I'm starting to use other aspects of this computer, I really like the exercise related parts of this. There is a lot to this watch/ computer!! It was a hefty purchase- glad I did it.Version: 2.10.4
Great app but…The Garmin device is amazing. Tracks just about anything & we all know that. The Dive app follows suit and has more info than I truly know what to do with and it’s pretty cool to have accurate dive information right after your dive ( on the watch but also the iPhone) Let’s be honest tho, I don’t want just my garmin dives loaded here . It’s time for the import function to be worked on ( not forcing me to enter 200+dives manually ONE AT TIME) Once the import is done with the basic structure, I can go and add more and more accurate pieces of data. Please mark it with an import tag so we know that was a PRE-Garmin entry….Version: 2.6
Would give it 5 Stars but…Lack of an “offline” mode when syncing to the app seems to be a gap in functionality. Not sure why there’s the assumption that a cellular or wifi signal is always there. It seems that when Garmin is having server issues or you cannot get online the sync doesn’t work. I am missing a dive in my garmin dive log as the watch thinks it downloaded the dive but it’s not in the log anywhere. Also need a Windows & OS x version of the app. It’s a lot easier to add notes and provide more details via a full device like that..Version: 2.3
GARMIN DESCENT MK1Got the GARMIN DESCENT MK1, Id been using it for the GYM (counts fairly the reps, misses one here and there but I don't mind that much), same on elliptical and treadmill. I have use it on Apnea, Apnea Hunt (only to 20ft) and for Open Circuit Scuba and it shines! Gives you accurate readings is super easy to use, the APP is very friendly. Best way to put it, the product is so good I just replace the strap for a titanium links band and use it for all (boxed my other watches...this thing is an ALL IN ONE TOOL!).Version: 1.6.2
Missing some essentialsThere are 2 features that I feel Garmin Dive is missing for it to be useful: 1. Combining dives - any surface time automatically starts a new dive. This is undesirable in lots of cases. I would love to see a feature whereby I can combine the dives. 2. Import from other software - most of my logs are in other software, so my options are to either abandon all my other logs, or use the other dive log software which can import FIT files and combine dives. You can guess which method wins..Version: 2.10.5
Garmin Ecosystem IntegrationI like that my dive logs are integrated into the Garmin Ecosystem. When diving I am using the MK3i, Inreach Mini 2 in the dive case, and t2 tank pod transmitter. I would in a future that a dive compatible chest heart rate and respiration be added. As I am wearing my watch outside of my wetsuit. Can a PSI chart be added to the dive log report? I n the summary I only see what my start and ending readings were..Version: 2.16.4
Every thing but VISIBILITY in feet/metersThe Garmin Decent and most of the app allows recording details in meters OR imperial “feet” except the visibility logging (no feet option). Seems like an oversight , hope it is fixed soon. Also this app is missing wetsuit type and thickness and equipment list as in the regular Garmin Connect App. Love the stand-alone dive app! Thanks for releasing it! Please keep refining it!.Version: 1.2
Great app, but…Love the app, best dive app I’ve used. Had a Descent Mk1, switched to Shearwater Teric, then switched to Mk2i just based on the Garmin Dive app being superior. However, not having internet connection (like when you’re out in the middle of the ocean) breaks the app. This needs to be fixed, there’s NO reason dove data can’t be local to the phone then sync with servers once cell or wi-fi connection is re-established..Version: 2.9
Best dive logThe app is great! You can log so much information! It’s amazing you can add photos, your gear, and tons of other information. I just found you can filter dives by tags, temperature, depth. That’s so cool! Can you add a “DPV” tag please?.Version: 2.9.1
Good app needs more featuresI really like the app and all the logging features. It keeps good data and I like the map feature but I wish it would let you add previous dives to the map and not just the log book. Maybe like how onXhunt app works where you could log different kinds of dives on the map with different colored and shaped pins..Version: 1.6
Frequently fails to record watch dataThere are many - 15% of my dives - that fail to transfer information from Farmington mk2 to app. It says it is synced. And will show that other info has, but the app never updates this and can’t go back and update it later..Version: 2.3
Please add average sac/rmv for all logged divesIt would be nice if this app included more information than just number of dives and total bottom time. I would love to have average rmv, average heart rate and other data displayed on my profile screen- a single graph that tracks average gas consumption over all logged dives, for example, would be beneficial in realizing improvement over the course of one’s diving career. Perhaps a report tool could be added, which could pull information from user specified data points. With more functionality, I would give Garmin Dive 5 stars..Version: 2.10.5
Good app; better since initial release.Decent app. I’d be more enthusiastic if the vast majority of information wasn’t already available in almost identical format in the Garmin Connect app. My wish list to make this a 5-star app would include: - more detail contained within the dive profile section (similar to Shearwater layout) - display of warning and alerts triggered within each dive (e.g., ascent rate warnings, ceiling violations, etc) - increased functionality with the “explore” section. There’s currently no sharing capability and the database of dive sites is pretty sparse. There’s a lot of potential especially when used in combination with Garmin’s own Mk1 computer, but it feels pretty bare-bones in its current version..Version: 1.3
Easy data download to my IPhoneMy Descent G1 solar will download my dive to my IPhone as soon as I am back on the boat during my surface interval. I do wish that it would upload to my SSI logbook though..Version: 2.15.1
Garmin dive watchCan read easily even with poor visibility. Scrolling through and changing gases on the fly is simple. Would like to be able to change colors on the dive settings; back light, and colors on the face itself..Version: 2.4
MK1 fantastic dive computerLove this dive watch / fitness computer. The heart rate monitor is top rate. Helped me to know when I needed to go to the ER. Ended up having a heart ablation. The dive app is extremely well thought out!.Version: 2.17.2
Awesome productI’m new to diving and did a lot a research on all the wrist mounted units I could find and settled on the Garmin unit. Absolutely loved it, the automatic dive logs are great and have more info than I need and the unit is so easy to use. Great job Garmin..Version: 2.8
Awesome appI have no complaints about this app. Have been using it for a few years. Very easy to log a dive. Connects directly to garmin dive watch..Version: 2.13
Need a dive planer on the appThe computer is amazing. I love the versatility for different sport. I do more than diving. But the only thing is that the app need a dive planner. Is way easier to do that on the phone rather than on the computer it self..Version: 2.16.4
Not longer getting stuck on iOS 15Finally usable on iOS 15. Thanks for the fix..Version: 2.5
Best Dive Log Ever!I love this app! It can do everything and records so much useful information..Version: 2.13
Garmin MK2iGreat watch and great app.. love the air integration compared to an iWatch - was a great purchase decision and the companion dive app is well coded and organized. Thanks Garmin!!.Version: 2.10.2
MK2II’m using the MK2I with air integration and it works flawlessly with this app. Great job Garmin..Version: 2.3
Almost there!I would like to see more statistics, like total dive time..Version: 2.3
No social mediaNice work so far. Please add a share function so that you can share individual dives on social media..Version: 1.2.1
Hell yeaGarmin, perfect! Able to add dives and everything. Thanks!!!!.Version: 1.2.1
Henriette SwartBest dive computer and App, ever. Sooo user friendly.Version: 2.0.1
Stopped syncing with my MK2Just stopped syncing today I used it..Version: 2.5
Great appGreat app, easy to use and syncs easily with my Descent Mk2i..Version: 1.6.2
Mk1 is great but MK2 is excellent!I have been diving ~25 years now. I have tried several dive watch computers. The Descent MK2 is the absolute best! Initially, I purchased the Mk1 when launched. At that time, I was convinced it was superior to any other dive watch available. The only problem with it, however, is that it records dives in pools. So, you’ll have to delete dives after you are in the pool with the Mk1. The Mk2 has an option to turn off recording dives by easily setting to Pool mode. Also, I used the watch in terrible conditions during a PADI rescue certification course this past weekend. Not only was the compass easy to quickly use with just a tap on the watch but also the clarity of the screen was great even with awful viz. The battery dropped to 40% from 100% throughout the day as well. I’m unsure how the battery will handle 3 full dives in a single day (charge). We will see soon. Anyway, I’m now looking forward to buying the transmitter when available. Will probably buy two transmitters so I can monitor my 14yr olds tank for extra safety while he begins learning to dive. In terms of cost, the Mk1 is 1000 new from Garmin. As low as 500 used on eBay. The Mk2 new is 300 more from garmin. The Mk2i that allows use of transmitter is 1500 bucks for a new one. It’s likely you’ll spend north of 500 for an alternative dive watch computers not including a transmitter, btw. One last thing, the garmin watches also offer all the other fitness data as well. The Mk2 also stores music and credit card info so you can make transactions similar to an Apple Watch. I admit it’s on the big side compared to a typical wrist watch but I have gotten used to mine and wear daily. Perfect for running, cycling, etc. Can get food or drink while outside exercising. Just need earbuds to hear music. You can also buy garmin sensors for your bike which the easily links cycling data to your watch and laptop too. I only wish I could link my watch to iFit on the Nordictrak platform. Overall, tons of nice things to say about Garmin dive watches. In fact, I challenge anyone to make a case for a dive watch computer that’s better than the Mk2. If money is the issue then you should be looking at a good used Mk1..Version: 1.5.1
AwesomeA very capable computer that offers full functions out of the box. Easy to switch from OC to CC. I love the gps feature..Version: 2.15.1
Awesome piece of equipmentWear it 95% of the time and dive with it 100% of the time..Version: 2.0
Suggested improvementsI have a Descent mark one and really appreciate the Bluetooth connectivity and the haptic signals as I can’t always hear audible signals underwater. It would be really helpful if more of the settings on the Mk 1could be set using the app on the phone it would be much quicker and easier. I also noticed that the no-deco alarm goes off too early yo be truly useful; often with 20 minutes or so left..Version: 2.6
Dive logs need to downloaded to phones memoryI noticed when the Garmin Connect servers went down, I could not access my dive logs via the Garmin Dive app. This may have be overlooked but this needs to happen . It is so much easier to scroll through the app than on the dive computer. It is also a good backup for when you don’t have your dive computer on you. Please make this happen. I love the app and this would make it even better ..Version: 1.2.1
Not workingThe new update does not work with descent mk1. no synchronization.Version: 1.2.1
