I wanted the data and was hoping I could get something that also offered a lap timer. Video was more of a nice to have and I never thought about the possibility of on track coaching tips. I’m more of an advanced non-professional. If you run every weekend at the same track you don’t need tips but I’m typically at a 5 different tracks a year and never the same one twice in a row. The tips are fantastic and they’ve showed me lines that aren’t what anyone else I drive with uses…and they’re faster. All those in one package but with fantastic integration. But the integration is useable seconds after you pull off the track and without even unbuckling your belts. The usability is absurd and the video is a fun nice to have so you can share/show off to friends and family as well as see the line (video and data) in corner 7 on lap 10 you just did. I didn’t even mention that it connects to a user community and leaderboard. Another layer of fun. I have no complaints other than I wish the data transfer to the mini SD card was a little faster but it’s a small small thing (I now do it while driving home) for such a complete and well thought out package that is executed perfectly. Very nice product.

I’ve now done a complete season using the Catalyst. As a lap timer it has been excellent, I like seeing real time if I’m ahead or behind my session best, def helps you concentrate on getting better. The coaching part I have not really used as I cannot here the voice over the wind and engine noise! But you can use ear buds, but I just haven’t. I do like the optimal lap view, this is what I use to improve my laps the most. Piece it together and eventually you can achieve that ‘optimal’ lap. I’ve only managed that once at my last track day. My best lap was within 0.01 of the ‘optimal’ lap. I was very happy! I took 1 star away as I feel the video recording is just average. It says it’s 1080P but my GoPro 1080P looks 10x better. Maybe 720P at best, being able to overlay the speed/map/ G’s data is awesome, that part I love! Overall a great product, highly recommended, even if the video quality could be better. The rest is outstanding!!!

I recently picked up the Garmin Catalyst for my GT4 RS. First use was at Blackhawk Farms Racetrack and I was thoroughly impressed! This device improved my racing experience by providing real-time data and insights that helped me fine-tune my driving. The setup was straightforward, and the visual feedback on my performance was incredibly clear and actionable. I felt more connected to the track, allowing me to push my limits confidently. Overall, the Garmin Catalyst is a game-changer for any serious driver looking to enhance their performance on track. Also really like the “Leaderboard” function which tracks your best lap times with other drivers.

This app is great on both the iPhone and iPad. The telemetry is very helpful to analyze on these device platforms to find areas for improvement. The user experience is intuitive, and I find it easy to connect the Catakyst to my phone hot spot to transfer the data to the cloud from the paddock. I know this feature was never promised, but I feel the lack of video review on my phone or iPad SHOULD be relatively simple for Garmin to add in today’s world of cloud computing. I pay for iCloud storage, so let me move my videos to my iCloud to review along with the driving telemetry data. This is why i’m only eating the app a 4 instead of a 5. Garmin team, you clearly know how to design a great app. I’m sure your product team wants to give their loyal users video!

I bought this device right when it came out and I’ve been using it for the last couple years. It’s truly an unbelievable device. I have Motec in my race car and it’s quite complex. This device is the very simple to use and allows me to have realtime input while I’m racing. I connect the audio to my headset, so lap by lap, I get info about how to drive each corner better. This is invaluable during qualifying and racing. Five stars.

Driving against your own self is probably one of the hardest things to do. The Garman has made it not only a challenge, but also a blueprint on how to do better, driving thank you for coming up with such a great tool to use for a weekend driver like me. I hope that you can make it even more simple somehow but it’s pretty good.

I love my Catalyst. It's allowed me to go faster. There's a lot more in it than you seem to get out of it the first few times you use it. But keep learning and keep challenging yourself by setting specific goals corner by corner. Best track tool out there besides a private coach. Also tons of fun to share the videos with friends!

The absolute BEST way to log and review data. Compare lap info with friends, use the coaching to help you get faster. My buddy has an M2CSR with an Aim data logger and bought a Catalyst after seeing my setup and going through my data. No other tool needed.

If you want to continue to improve your track times, especially as an Intermediate, this is the lap timer/ coach for you. It help me shed 3 seconds off my time first time using it. Easy to use and provides a lot of useful data

As a coach, instructor, and driver the addition of the app has allowed for comparing sessions not only across sessions but also drivers. Baring data is sync’d at the end of the day we can now review data anywhere any time.

Garmin is really the first data analysis tool any track driver should have. Its simple interface and ease of set up is what sets it apart. The app helps with analysts and sharing of days between drivers.

I LOVE MY Garmin Catalyst! I would not drive a track without it! When I was racing a cart I found myself missing the coaching I get from my Garmin! Do not delay this purchase it THE BEST upgrade you can make to your track drive!

I love the Catalyst because it allows for quick results. The app continues to get betta and better. The new leaderboard and friends features are awesome!

I have been using MyLaps and Catalyst side by side and Catalyst is a much easier app to use and very accurate

It’s cool to compare data from lap to lap within the same session but it will more helpful to compare against other sessions. Please add that in.

Wish i could watch reference videos side by side on the catalyst. The app is good for cataloging your lap times.

Where’s the video of my laps?

Really like being able to see the data on a device but the compare to friend feature way to frequently fails with the message about the tracks not matching well enough despite being the same track on the same days even. If they could fix that it’d be five stars for sure as of now the feature isn’t super useful Latest app update is reported to have fixed the compare but I still see the same issues

The app is great, but the friend integration is currently pretty lacking. When I try to compare laps it complains that the tracks aren't similar enough. Worse though is that there's no apparent way of sharing your sessions with friends. Comparing would be nice if it works, but I'd love to browse friend's sessions. I'm sure it'll improve in time!

5 out of 5 when the app works. It won’t let me compare the laps with other friends on the same day. Says lap not similar. Literally same day same track same session. This is a huge issue that needs to be resolved.

This app is broken for catalyst v2 hardware. Saving a lap results in an app crash. I’m not sure how this app passed QA like this, extracting a lap with video was a huge bonus with the v1 setup.

Not user friendly. Loading is soooo slow.

Everytime you try logging in the app just glitches anyways can’t even get logged in.
