Mass export would be great but the number one thing would be starting and stopping strings/groups directly from the app. It’s a bit cumbersome to keep going back and forth between the unit and the phone. Other than that I’d echo the suggestions from the other reviews. Overall, everything functions as intended, just wish it was a bit easier to use.

Just having fun or hand loading to a specific power factor. This tool makes it easy to capture velocity and send the shot string data to my phone. The phone app provides a lot of details allowing for powder charge changes and best of all, the app can export the data as an excel or cvs file which can be used to document load data results.

The app is good. Very easy to work and fast sync with the unit. Only issue I have with it is having to export ever shot string individually. This is a pain if you are doing any load development or shooting multiple guns. An ability to select multiple or all shot strings in one email would be huge. Thanks Garmin for a great shooting sports product.

Having a portable unit like the Garmin is a great tool. When you change powder lots you got to know pretty quick what’s gone to work. That’s where the little Garmin comes in handy. Knowing the speed that works with making your bullets fly, is right at your fingertips with the Garmin. It makes loading precision ammo, the best you can be.

Love my Garmin Shotview chronograph and associated app. They link up easily with no input needed from me. No more setting up screens on tripods and worrying about shooting my gear or transcribing data. Super intuitive. Edits to bullets and rifle once inputted could be easier and more intuitive, but I figured it out eventually.

I switched to a Garmin chronograph when they were first released and have never looked back. I shoot quite a bit and have yet to miss a shot. Big orange and my gray bayonet are in my dustbin of obsolete technology. The data output in csv form is a tad clunky and needs a tweak here and there but the chrono itself is magical

Had an older lab radar unit and while it is great this thing is just amazing with set up and everything. Just point it in the direction and send freedom seeds down range. Then when I got home it all synced up upon opening the app.

Love my Xero but could use a little upgrades to the app. I don’t not like the ease of use of the app but would be nice to be able to edit string names from the Home Screen. Would be awesome if you could select a number of strings and have them plotted on a line graph. Again, I do love this thing!

Garmin just works. It has no foibles. It has no glitches. Have used it since it was first introduced. It has recorded thousands of shots. It has not missed a one. If everything in life worked like this thing, we would be in paradise.

The shot view chronograph system is the best I’ve ever used, and I’ve been using chronograph systems since the 70’s. It is by far the easiest to set up and operate, and it produces the most useful data to help you fine tune your firearm’s performance.

Game changing device and app. A few requests for future updates to app and device. 1. In-app Ability to create velocity node line graphs from data collected. 2. Ability to create “gun profiles” with pertinent rifle build details and ability store shooting sessions under certain gun profiles.

It has a few bugs a while back which have been corrected. I really enjoy the app. Lots of good info you can add to keep up with your shots and much more. Customer service is awesome as well!

A couple hiccups at the beginning but the chrono and especially the app just works. I use the new add ons every week. My one complaint would be I’d love to be able to add pics to each session. Blows everything else out of the water.

App seems to function 100% so far, which is great. Would love to be able to break shooting sessions down into shot strings, add a photo to each session, and plot strings on tables and graphs for analysis.

Love 99% of this program and all it offers. I just wish it would not change the date when you edit the string more than a day later.

Never misses a shot just put it on the tripod and set it out in front of your bipod automatically downloads to your phone. Best money spent on a chronograph in 20 years.

I could have never imagined a chronograph that fits in your cargo pants pocket yet, is incredibly accurate, logs your sessions and bluetooths those sessions to your phone for later editing. Just amazing.

Addition of firearm and ammunition profiles is fantastic! Much better than trying to summarize a session in its name and note field. Thank you! Feedback: 1) Fields in the ammo profile need 3 decimal places (COAL, trim length for example) 2) Don’t change the original timestamp of a session. When I set cold bore or excluded a shot, it changed the timestamp to current date. I want to see the original session date forever. Great update, keep it up!

Awesome chrono, I’ve used it two years now and I love having the ability to refer back to loads I’ve recorded previously. The beat chrono on the market.

Works great for data acquisition and analysis. It would be very nice to have ability to start and end session remotely from the app!

Is as advertised. As a hand loader, I highly recommend this product. Size, features, and ease of use puts it in first place over others.

Best of its kind by far. I would give it six stars if it had a brighter screen with some colors.

What would really give this app 5 stars and would really make it stand out from the rest is if you add the ability to attach a pic of the target to your session!

Great easy to use app but lacks the features to delete all sessions, or manually select and delete. Very time consuming.

Does everything I need it to do and lets me store configurations. With a C2 the live view is amazing and I love being able to easily swap sessions.

My Garmin Xero C1 has been great to use at the range. I have used it to measure various .22 lr for NRL22 matches. The muzzle velocity measurements have proven very good as I can dial my distance to target and get hits.

Before using the Xero and ShotView, working up a new handload using a traditional chrony was a necessary evil. It is now a joy. Super easy is an understatement! Thanks for the new tech!

Great app for tracking and editing data. Lots of useful features

Love the Xero C1, and the Shotview app! Life changing!

The chronograph is magical compared to all that came before it but… it would nice if the app was live and you could review your data on the app while in a session rather than having to end your session and then see the data. Would also be nice to have a time stamp for each shoot recorded.

No solid chronographs in the market until Garmin delivered this. Compact, easy to setup & use and accurate, does those 3 things better than anyone else. That’s all you need from a chronograph. Love Garmin products and I hope they continue to develop better products.

Unit is awesome but can you add in the function to add shots to an old string? That function really should be added in. Otherwise great app

App works well enough reviewing/exporting data and updating firmware. What’s missing is the ability to start new sessions and change settings through the app.

It works great. The only thing is it would be nice to be able to export multiple sessions at once that would be supported by chrono plotter. For doing load development.

As far as the app doing its primary job in syncing sessions from the device to the app, it does that fine with no issues although I don’t understand why an account needs to be made…Competition Electronics doesn’t require this with their app. But there are so many optimizations and bugs that could be addressed. The most recent version has a major issue with copy/paste functionality where you rename sessions. It highlights all text by default and you end up having to drag the text into Notes and paste then re-copy into the next session and make edits. Also, if shots are excluded from a string, the velocity updates but the standard deviation does not. So then I have to go to an external source to enter in all my shot data for that string and recalculate standard deviation. The app badly needs a sort and search function as it’d be nice to organize strings with common components next to each other for quick comparisons. The app also needs a way to notify the user that a firmware update is available so that those updates can be performed prior to a range trip rather than at random times during a shooting session causing lost data. This happened to me so I’m always having to remind myself to check for updates before I head to the range. App also needs an “export all” option badly. Within each string column, it also should let you sort each column by shot number, velocity, SD, KE, etc for easier analysis from within the app instead of needing to dump everything into Excel for basic sorting.

The chrono works very well, but the app is insanely rudimentary. Many of us who purchased this reload and the lack of available fields to enter reloading data (bullet, powder, powder charge, primer, brass, number of times brass fired, CBTO, which firearm, etc.) and some self configuring data fields and a photo of the targets is more than disappointing. This app needs a major update or the people in charge of app development should be replaced. I’m not sure who they spoke to when developing the app, but it wasn’t the right people. As I said, the chrono has worked flawlessly, but it’s only as good as the means to review and document the data. Even my old Caldwell app had far more fields 😱. I have reached out by email to the development team, but haven’t heard a word from them. It’s truly disappointing considering the cost. Buyers remorse? Maybe, we will see what Garmin does to improve the product. Poor execution with the app Garmin!

The app is very basic, I think there is actually more data displayed in the Xero C1 than is in the app. It’s basically just a place to store your shooting for future reference. What the call cloud sync I wouldn’t, for instance I have my Xero C1 paired with my iPad mini. When I end the session the info is then transferred to the mini & I assume at that time it syncs with the cloud. Well when the session has ended on the mini I like to rename the session to the weapon & ammo being used, plus make any notes that I deem necessary. Later I like to review the sessions on my iPad Pro, problem being it only gets the session(s) as the came from the Xero C1 not the edited version. I would call this syncing. The other chronographs that I’ve had costing much less than the Xero C1 transferred the shot data as the shot was made & even announcing the speed. With a little work on the app Garmin could take a great product & make it better. One would expect the app to be the same caliber as the unit itself, but it’s not

This is still a basic app with some features that do not work for me (iPhone 16 Pro). For instance exporting sessions must be done one-by-one, from inside the display of each session’s details. If you select all sessions from the home screen, it will not work. In fact the radio buttons to select individual sessions on that screen do not function correctly. The app does the job and will allow you to export to Excel, however that’s about all I use it for. Once your session is in Excel, it’s simple to edit it however you like.

The app is really lacking compared to other chrono apps, like Digital Link for the CED chronos for example. It doesn’t want to import all of my shot lists so it’s hard to know which shot string I’m looking at, and the Xero unit doesn’t display the bullet weight that was recorded. No shot updates in real time as others mentioned, and the app freezes up every time I try to force another sync. Pretty subpar user interface all around for what would otherwise be an excellent chronograph. It’s really too bad Garmin didn’t put more effort into making this user friendly and useful.

Competition shooters want to know power factor which the unit records however, the app does not average power factor for all shots taken. It Has to be calculated manually for all shots that are taken. Why is this so difficult as other Crono apps already do this? You have to end sessions before it is transferred to the app instead of having live transfer for each shot like other Chrono apps Add all of the above that I have listed and you’ll get a five star from me.

Solid start to a companion app for a stellar piece of kit for reloading. If the devs read this, some sort of “copy-paste” or “duplicate” functionality for sessions would be great. My use case: I want to separate out shots from a session, WITHOUT simply deleting them. If I could copy a session, then delete the unwanted shots from the copy, I could analyze the remaining shots separate from the parent session. Other app (not hardware) wish list items: - Automatically pulling temp/pressure/elevation data to add to sessions - location and firearm profiles, ways to add them to sessions - Additional fields of metadata to add to sessions, such as powder selection, and more ways to sort sessions by metadata (for example, all sessions with X bullet weight) - Graphs and charts of data Keep up the good work, you guys are awesome

The Garmin Xero chronograph is a phenomenal instrument. After buying my Xero and shooting my first sessions, I literally took five other chronograph from my shooting room and threw them in the trash…… The Xero has never failed to accurately record the 500 or so rounds it has been used for. Well …. Then I started using the shotview software ! What a piece of garbage software. It has a multitude of problems that I am not even going to begin to list. With the revenue that garmin gets from the Xero, one would think that they could spend a little money on a software developer to fix this app. I don’t know if some of the anti-gun idiots at Apple have attacked this technology to render it demasculated. My hope is that some day shotview will get fixed….. until then, I will just limp along with the Garmin Xero.

15 shot sessions are replicated to 150+ shots. Excluding a shot in Shotview reorders the session history. Sessions need to be listed by date created, not date modified. Shot history in C2 is also jumbled and replicated (write important data down). Default rifle / bullet cannot be reset to unassigned. Changing a session name shouldn’t require selecting the old name, just give a blank field to type. The list is long, waaaay too long for a quality company like Garmin. Clearly software was not tested. Not ready for prime time!

The garmin is by far the best chronograph I’ve used, only downside I’ve found so far is it will not chronograph shotgun loads. The app however needs to be completely redesigned. There needs to be room to put load data and pictures of groups on each range session. Maybe it will happen in future.

The app could have been so much better, I’ve had the same issues pointed out in other reviews. I’m also notified there is a new version available even though I’ve already installed it. Fortunately I’ve written a utility to convert the fit files you can access by plugging it into a pc into csv files so I can bypass the app altogether.

Very basic functionality and it seems pretty stable, but I wish Garmin hired someone who understands how to develop apps for the phone because this is just barely usable. I still have to keep written notes for load development because this app is so painful to use.

Garmin offers FIT to XLS conversion utilities for other devices. It would be nice if there were a like utility to convert Xero files (when connected to a PC as a USB device) en masse, vs having to email them one by one from the app. Since it appears the exported XLS files pick up their shot times from either the Xero or device, is there some particular reason the date couldn’t be exported as well? Similarly, it would be handy if the projectile weight was also exported. Looking forward to future updates…

When deleting a shot in the shotview app it changes the date of the session to today’s date and doesn’t keep the date when the session was shot. The session date should always be the date the session was fired.

The Garmin ShotView app has several negative aspects that have caused me to delete the app from my phone. I only use Garmin Express to keep its firmware updated. Now I use a pencil and 3x5 inch spiral notebook to record Xero C1 Pro contained data for later transfer to my computer. Here's why. 1. I have many shooting devices that offer apps for my phone as follows: 1) T1000 Tuner, 2) Labradar, 3) ATN Obsidian, 4) ATN LRF Ballistics, 5)Vortex FURY HD, 6) Kestrel Ballistics, 7) SIG BDX, 8) Longshot, and 9) PhoneSkope. NONE of these apps requires me to first log into my account. But the Garmin ShotView requires account login before being able to communicate with the Xero C1 Pro. WHY? The only reason I can see is for data logging and user profile building. This is an invasion of privacy. 2. The ShotView app only permits the transfer of Xero C1 Pro data to the app ONE TIME. WHY? Then I log out of the ShotView app and then log back in. That action erases ALL session data from the app and those sessions cannot be reimported from the Xero C1 Pro chronograph. WHY? This is very user unfriendly and I cannot understand why Garmin would do this. 3. The ShotView app permits tagging of a shot for "cold bore" and "clean bore" properties. That is nice. It then allows for the session's statistics to be updated when that shot's data is to be deleted from the statistics, also nice. However, the exported "csv" file contains ALL shot data in its statistics and no option exists for the exported data and statistics to have the deleted shots adjusted. WHY? Maybe it's because for some misguided reason Garmin chose to only allow the transfer of Xero C1 Pro data to the app only ONE TIME. WHY? In summary, the Xero C1 Pro is a great device, being smartly designed and engineered, and performs very well. The ShotView app is exactly the opposite. It was poorly thought out, requires user account login, poorly implemented, and VERY user unfriendly. I now enjoy using the Xero C1 Pro hardware, have deleted the ShotView app from my phone, and use a 3x5 inch spiral notebook and pencil for data recording and transfer to my computer. The ShotView app development team needs recalibration. Please fix the ShotView app! Thanks.

Export file creates a random name. Should use the session name. Should be able to do a mass export. Export file should have bullet weight. Export only has time. Should include date and time. App should collect temp and barometric pressure. App should have ability to photograph the target. A PDF export with all data including the picture. See Digital Link chronograph app for inspiration. Other than that, the app does well to sync data with C1. Good first try.

When reviewing past shooting sessions, a simple act like excluding or including a shot changes the date and time of the shooting session. The shooting session date and time should be sacred! Show an edit date if that is important for some customers.

So you pay $600 for a nice radar unit. In the old days, Garmin might have been happy with that, and a happy customer. But in the brave new world of endless monetization no, they require an online account for simple purely local data sync so that they can harvest your data for themselves and add subscriptions later. Scum.

Has no use for user, only spyware for Garmin, used gather info so they can market more stuff to you. It’s a shame the chronograph is great, best shooting tool I have bought in 30 plus years, the shot view app is like a after though dreamed up by marketing, glad I didn’t use my email address to sign in.

All the effort to take notes for each session but the only way to view them is to export each session one by one..

I wish multiple sessions could be deleted at one time rather than going into each session and deleting them individually.

Great chronograph, but the app lacks basic features that other apps have. Why can’t we start and end sessions from the app? Why does everything have to be done on the chrono itself and imported into the app after? It would be nice to be able to setup a new session in the app, give it a name, enter all the parameters, then start and end the session from my phone.
