DJI GO 4 App Comments & Reviews

DJI GO 4 Positive Reviews

Reliable After Over a Year but one hugeee issue.....I bought a DJI spark in august of 2019 and ever since I’ve never really had any bug issues with the app. Maybe crashed once or twice ever but other than that, with my iPhone XR, it has worked quite well. But no fly zones, don’t get me started. You see rants about them everywhere and I can understand why. Hate to bash DJI but in what right mind should a drone be able to take off with GPS connected, be seemingly no where near an NFZ on any map, then be flying out over a lake around 100 yards away from takeoff and suddenly claim I’m flying in an NFZ. I Almsot lost my drone that day, completely lost GPS and live camera feed, barely made it back using just line of sight. I just don’t get it man. It’s one thing if No Fly Zones are announced prior to take off but you really think practically disabling my drone out of nowhere is going to prevent the catastrophic event of my aircraft hitting a plane 100 feet off the ground? Lol you gotta to be crazy if this is the only alternative DJI and the FAA can think of. THERE MUST BE A MIDDLE GROUND. Some NFZ are so ridiculous, I lived nearly 35 miles away from Newark airport when this event took place, shouldn’t there be a hight limit or some sort of compromise where we can fly freely in reasonable areas? Please DJI if you see this, do something about it, it’s a serious issue faced by a majority of DJI product users and I hate to practically see my money go to waste. Thanks, Jerry.Version: 4.3.41

When in flight iPad mini 4 live footage cuts off all the timeI been flying for 2 years or more also have 70 plus hours flying and I started off with phantom 3 standard, crashed it human error, but never had a problem with that drone or app. I bought the phantom 4 and use an iPad mini 4, well my live feed keeps cutting out after the first upgrade. Never done it the first 2 weeks I owned the p4 using the same iPad mini 4. Now it cuts off or glitch’s all through the flight. I’ve changed cords etc... u name it, I’ve done it and still the same problem. They worry about the mavics and the other little drones they make instead of the ones that made them who they are today(phantoms) they sure need to start taking care of the phantoms and their problems. Spend more time on the phantoms so they to won’t have an issue or issues. Other than the live feed glitches it has been a pleasure flying!!.Version: 4.1.20

Was once broken - Now seems fineI recently purchased a Spark. Super awesome drone, especially since it’s so small. It is precise and hovers. A large upgrade from the $80 Walmart drone I had before. The app was nice, I had experience with it and the Inspire 2. But it kept crashing over and over. Just as people mention in the reviews. But after a recent update, it has worked flawlessly. It even seems to drain less battery on my phone than usual. I would give it five stars, but because this crashing problem lasted about a month, it’s somewhat crushing to that fifth star. The Spark costs a few hundred dollars. Our Inspire two after all cameras and batteries is about 6K. Not to mention that we use two Inspires for most shoots. Bad for having problems. Good for fixing it quickly. I love the fun options on the drone. It makes taking simple and fun shots so easy. And their is also so much available maneuvering, so that one can do their own thing if they want. It goes fast, and is very quiet..Version: 4.1.22

Works well in flight, auto editing is usefulNever had any problem in understanding the app and its functions. It’s really clear even when you have to deal with stressful situations in flight. The store needs more variety, there is no accessories I can find, only flagship products. Really don't care about the social media part of it. Most complaints I see here and in forums are about HARDWARE limitations or misuse. Despite being a movie industry professional for 20 years, I really like the auto editing features even though half the automatic scene choices I have to fine tune. I wish there are longer clips to choose from in this function, an ample selection of filters and more styles/music to select. Most of my flights are not supposed to be masterpieces of cinematography, I just want to escape from the ground a little while and toy around and this autonomous features make these flights more likely to be documented. Another suggestion: The interface does well its job, but lets face it - its really boring! How about something like “skins” to choose from? Something more aggressive like from a jet plane, or minimalistic and uncluttered for better viewing experiences or even “fantasy” like an alien ship? You can sell these, people will pay for it because not everyone takes itself too seriously. Anyway, keep the good work, guys. Looking forward for the next generation of DJI products..Version: 4.2.24

Definitely happyI’ve had my drone for a few months now and have had zero issues with the app. My only problem is with the simulation mode. I’d like to be able to practice without having to turn on the actual drone. I mean, what’s the point? Other drone apps have very different controls, so that makes them irrelevant for me. But they have great courses and game play. I’d like to see DJI give us different flight modes and obstacles so that we can practice navigating around virtual things, instead of subjecting my new drone to real damage. After all, one battery lasts for a whopping 15 minutes, when in reality you need multiple hours to get comfortable. Anyway, I’m otherwise super happy with the app, haven’t had any crashes or glitches of any kind yet. I flew it out of range once(didn’t have controller yet), but that was my own problem. Connectivity hasn’t been an issue, despite flying in a densely populated city with plenty of interference..Version: 4.3.10

Two years of successful flightsIt seems as though pilots are either all-in or all-out on this app. I’ve found it to work quite well! I’ve been flying my DJI Mavic Pro 1 for over two years, and we’ve safely landed each time so far. There have been some situations in terms of communication interference with the remote and the drone, or with the drone’s camera flipping in weird directions (even though it was still fully in control). Those issues were circumstantial and not app related. When I first started flying, there were a few occasions where I lost connection to the app. That was scary as visual would drop out, but that has not been an issue in quite sometime. “Return to Home” on the remote is a savior at that point, and it’s important to maintain safe flying practices, like visual line of sight, to bring the drone home safely..Version: 4.3.37

Best DronesI’m still in my first year of flying Drones and yes like many other people I started with the less expensive drones on the market. After purchasing 5 other companies Drones I purchased y 1st DJI mavic 2 zoom. I feel in love 😍 1st flight. The are may extra features on DJI verse the others I purchased my favorite extra feature or the sensors all around the Drone that prevents crashing into objects. My wife decided to by me a spark to also go with my collection. I also feel in love 🥰 with it also. The reason why I love ❤️ both is they both have there on unique features. I love the spark being Abe to fly in close quarters, the Mavic 2 long flight availability. As a matter of fact I’m looking forward to the new mavic mini that’s will be hitting the market any day ( done ask Santa for one under the tree 🌲)..Version: 4.3.24

Push fw update notifications pls!I give 4 stars, however I came back from my last shoot wanting to give 0.5 stars (literarly). I do understand that the DJI systems are getting more complex and therefore it is necessary to keep everything update. But people have better things to do than to constantly update sw. I was on a shoot, remote location (fully legal, no restrictions, just mountains with some 2G spots. The app crashed all the time, image transmission issues sometimes preventing me to do the imagery I was actually out there for. It seems fine after the updates. So ... DJI, please, could you push notifications about these app and firmware updates that are required on the phone, drone and controller to fly reliably and safely? Updating on location is sometimes impossible and as the drones get smaller, the times of “prepare at home before flight” are over..Version: 4.2.5

Great app but a few flawsThis app is unbelievable. The technology is amazing! Unfortunately, it was super disappointing at first. Right off the bat it says to scan the box but it doesn’t work. Everything I read while trying to solve the problem said it doesn’t work for anyone. I was so excited to get a drone but then was put through hell trying to set everything up because it didn’t scan. The other complaint keeping me from giving it five stars is that the pop up messages/warnings keep popping up over and over again distracting me from flying. This seems like a safety hazard. For example, a message pops up on the screen and tells me I am flying in a particular zone. I hit “X” to make it go away but then it pops up again seconds later, then again and again and again. I was five miles from a heliport but I did call them so stop nagging me. Everything else works awesome!.Version: 4.1.20

Great App to use, BUT with a few flaws...I recently purchased a DJI spark about a month ago. First let me say as my first drone this UAV is soooo much fun to fly. Amazing the technology that’s in the DJI drone family. Probably why the app seems to work 98% of the time. The other 2 % is having connectivity issues. I’ll try every trick in the book. My last attempt was to delete the app and reinstall it which worked. I think because you have such variety of drones that can be used on the same app is bound to have a few bugs. Not to mention the wide variety of variables to cause connectivity issues. In conclusion, I use the app almost every day multiple times and have had only a few problems. I would’ve given it a 5 star review but it’s just not quite there yet. Thank you DJI for the amazing drones you’ve given us and a great app to use them!.Version: 4.3.16

Plea for better simulator!Hi, I’m hoping by writing this review I can get through the app developer. I have been waiting for for first person view perspectives while using the “simulator” on the app its 2019. I have spent 100+ hours flying. Please add a First Person View on simulator so the user can get use to the control. There are times where I take a break from flying and often forget the fine controls of the drone. By adding FPV on the simulator your not only giving a chance the user to learn how to fly safely, but responsibly. There should be course where the app trains you on how to be a responsible drone pilot just like in real life. DJI a huge company, be part of the solution on how to train new drone pilots. I’m hoping that this review can bring to light on what’s wrong with new drone pilots and that can cause avid users like me to loose the ability to fly because so idiot decides to be irresponsible. Thank You.Version: 4.3.12

Not very intuitiveGetting this app and the connection to controller working was not very intuitive. After watching tutorial videos and then several unsuccessful attempts to connect the controller to the Mavic it finally worked. The controller would pair but then the app would say disconnected. Then the app would connect and the Mavic controller wasn’t connected. Finally it worked after some combination of attempted techniques. Raised to 3 stars now that I can actually use the Mavic. Using on iPhone 6sPlus. Looking forward to upgrading to an iPad Mini because there is so much info on the screen. Will know more once I get a chance to fly more. Reading through the info it looks like there is no built in feature to mirror to another device or third party goggles. I would have to buy an another app and there are none with any good reviews or do apple screen mirroring through a hot spot. Seems like a simple feature that should be included. Please add this! INITIAL REVIEW: Tried several times to make an account through the app and it didn’t work. Went on website and created account. Took several hours to get app to accept password. Now it says ‘sign-in failed. Check your network connection’ after trying several different networks. Totally useless. Frustrated..Version: 4.1.22

Joe Brooks-KahnThis app is good, it’s easy to navigate and see other creators’ work which is very cool. It’s nice to have the sort of social media aspect to the app as well as the hardware aspect. The video transmission can be unreliable at times but that seems to only be based on the WiFi link to the drone through the remote. However, this app is terrible to fly you’re drone with! If you have a Mavic of Spark BUY A CONTROLLER! It will help make sure you don’t loose your drone and greatly increase it’s range. The app is also very persistent with its pop up warnings which can get annoying. It seems that I’m always in an “Airport with Unpaved Runways Zone,” (I also fly planes a plane at the local airport and know this isn’t true). My only other criticism is that these frequent warnings take up a lot of the viewing area of the screen. But otherwise, it’s a good app..Version: 4.2.22

Weak Transmission Signal IssueI had purchased the DJI Spark back in December of 2017 without the remote and the app did its job. I never really had issues of the app crashing like other people have stated. I’ve recently purchased the RC controller for the spark along with an OTG cable. I turn the Spark on, then the controller and wait for the connection, then connect the OTG cable to my phone and then the controller. Now you should be able to fly the Spark without WiFi if using the OTG cable. With everything connected properly, the DJI GO4 app says that the drone is connected but says that there is a weak transmission signal. I’ve done some research and have heard that it has started to do that with the new update. If that issue can be fixed then I’d consider leaving 5 stars for the review..Version: 4.1.22

I Actually Love This AppThe DJI Spark is my first drone. I recently got it and I am in love with it. I also purchased the remote. I had issues with connectivity to my Spark without the remote, but with future app updates It got better. Either way the remote really brings out the ability to fully appreciate what you’ve got in your hands. Recently this app is pretty darn flawless for me. I can break out my Spark, power the remote, open the app, and I’m in the air. That still just blows my mind every time I fly. I love the improvements they make with each app update, I love the Sport mode, I marvel at the technology, and I just admire the ease of use compared to what I initially thought it would be. I’ve got a flying friggin camera on me all the time. How cool is that?.Version: 4.2.4

It works great!I think that this app works great! I don’t know what everyone else is complaining about. The only reason I didn’t give it a five star rating is because its behind on the camera. When I go up it will take a second or two to see the camera where it is really. But other than that I think that this app works great with my spark. By the way DJI the spark is a great drone! Mine is six years old and still haven’t had to replace anything and it works great. You should make a spark 2. I think gust tweak it a little to not be so slow and it’s great! Oh and users when your trying to download the videos make Shute that you use your phone only with out the connected rc. Tweak it a little bit and I’ll give it a five star rating..Version: 4.3.60

No ISSUES NO PROBLEMSIn 2014 I started with the DJI Flame Wheel 550, no issues. Now granted this is pre-DJI GO and GO 4. I moved to the P4 after watching the Phantom series move along and decided in 2015 to move up to the Phantom 4. From then on I’ve never experienced an issue that has not been solved by an update or issue not taken care of by warranty. 6 years later still flying with the same set up down to the original blades and aside from a controller battery fail, no issues that I can speak to revolving around the DJI GO 4 App. Knock on wood and continued safe flying and SW that is working, this app works. I’ll follow up with any seen issues and as I move into the DJI FPV..Version: 4.3.46

Go4 app works nice.Although this app lacks the ability to set way points on the map, it works pretty good good. I just read a review from someone, and could barely make sense of it since it didn’t seem that he knew how to use punctuation to break up his thoughts about his issues with the program. I mean, all you have to do is say things like the word comma, and the word period. I have flown my spark without any issues at least a dozen times. What I am puzzled about is that it’s terrible that Go4 doesn’t rotate the screen on my iPad when I have it in the controller...although a third party app figured out how to do it...also what is bad is there should be a slight smoothing out of the gimbal in sport mode...also the yaw rate in sport mode should be adjustable..Version: 4.3.28

If your app is crashingI went on a several trips with my Mavic Pro Platinum over the last month and each time has had a firmware update or the app would crash every 10 seconds. These updates were more than inopportune since 95% of the time I’m off the grid and working. My last day with it was yesterday when the app crashed every few seconds while on a remote location shoot. I went home and ended up deleting the app and reinstalling it last night. Turned out there was conflicting firmware updates and so it spent 10 minutes realigning the firmware (with Mavic, controller, and app on). Once it was finished, I haven’t had the app crash yet..Version: 4.1.18

As good or better than LitchiWas really disappointed with the Go 4 app when it came out, but I guess the program writers at DJI finally came out of their comma and produced an app that works well with my P4P V2. Litchi has been my go to app up until this update came out. I think it is now better than Litchi. It has not crashed once on my iphone 8 plus or iPad. Most all of the features work well and it is a joy to use now. There are some things I have frustrations with, but until I test it further I will refrain from pointing out as it may just be me. Good job DJI, keep supporting your customers..Version: 4.3.3

Runs seamlessly.I can only imagine how much programming goes into this app. It’s gotta be a mammoth amount. And also to make it user friendly, clean, and run so smoothly all while running live feed from a drone however many meters, yards, feet away is absolutely incredible. I have never had any problems with it. I use it with spark just the phone, and with the RC. I just wanna shout out to DJI that I am so grateful for there AWESOME products and this amazing app to go with it. You guys have made so much more possible. Thank you DJI. P.S. to the one star reviewers, please revaluate your reviews..you’re giving this a app, a bad wrap..Version: 4.2.14

Great App!I’ve had a spark for a couple months now, and have had no issues with it or the app. I have the fly-more combo, and using the controller alongside some of the intelligent flight modes you get with the app is awesome. Using the app makes updating the drone, controller, and batteries really easy and puts it all in one place. The built-in editor makes piecing small content to post easy and mobile, and it makes viewing shots you’ve taken very accessible. Overall I think what DJI is accomplishing is amazing and I hope to continue to see great innovations from them in the years to come..Version: 4.3.2

When it works it’s great! For the first few months I’ve been using this app it was working great. About two month ago DJI did an update and now it crashes when I am try to edit videos. You would have thought that they would have fixed this problem be now. Most programmers I know work from home. Most of them work by contract. So, the shut down really isn’t a good reason for the slow response to this problem if you ask me. With more people at home, this would have been a good chance for dji to really promote their products, but they didn’t. And we have technical issues. Which is why it’s only getting three stars, not more..Version: 4.3.37

App needs more stabilityThe app itself crashes a lot and doesn’t communicate with the remote even though it’s a cable between the remote and the iPhone. When it refuses to communicate the remote will have an annoying alarm that will continue until you shut it off and reinstall the app. App will crash mid flight. The button you have to press when you’re flying near a restricted area is very small and almost the same color as the background. Very difficult to see and even more difficult to activate. I do appreciate the warning it gives though. When it does work everything else is fine. Flying a Mavic Air..Version: 4.3.28

Doesn’t always work correctlyThe app was amazing for the first few flights then it stopped loading. I lost some really cool stuff when I had to delete the app w reinstall. It again worked for a while, then it quit loading video into the app. I cleared the cashe and that worked. But only some of the videos loaded. So, again no video editing. Even some of the photos don’t show up on the app. When it worked properly it would shoot to the SD card, and send to the app and my phone. But no more. I have to download from the as card. Becoming very frustrating..Version: 4.3.50

Could not do without! You can’t learn to fly a helicopter or airplane overnight, let alone a UAV or drone, but having an app like this, and a little patience, will keep you in the air safely, giving you the confidence that your investment will not be lost in a crash. Once you gain more experience, you may be able to lower or disable some of the safety features, that make some of you writing these reviews, preemptively frustrated. I wouldn’t trust any other app over this one, when I put over $5,000 of my hard earned money in the air! Way to go DJI!.Version: 4.3.20

It worksSo far it has been flawless on my iPhone 6S+ with the Mavic Air. I have not done any long distance flights yet, but will this weekend. I will update my review if there are any changes, but my testing so far has been successful. No crashes or blackouts as some report. The people giving one star reviews because they have to now have an account or can’t change their email in app need to get over themselves. Those are not reasons for one star and are not giving true impressions of the flight capabilities of the app. The people with blackouts, crashes, and flyaways... maybe, but there could be other reasons for those to occur. My experience has been positive so far and I am happy with the update. Great work DJI. ***NOTE*** This review is not a paid endorsement for DJI products. I have not received any payments from DJI or any other company in exchange for this review..Version: 4.3.5

Doesn’t work with IOS14.2Need a update !!! Please!.Version: 4.3.38

Deceptively easy yet very robustI would recommend caution before flying a drone with this app. The app updates and when it does it's important you do all your preflight checks and calibrations in a safe area. Often times settings will change or move around so make sure everything is 100% before taking your drone for a flight. Read the manual and practice practice practice and this app will become a valuable tool. If you just take your drone out and assume it'll work every time you want to fly it, your chances of crashing will increase dramatically. There really is a LOT of options and trial and error is a quick way of crashing..Version: 4.1.11

DJI SPARKTrès satisfait de mon drone !!.Version: 4.3.40

Good app no problemsThe app is great zero issues runs smooth the only issue I have is that DJI keeps discontinuing their good drones and replacing it with worst drones please stop if you’re seeing this dji please Bring back the Mavic two pro and the Mavic air 👍🙁.Version: 4.3.46

Truly amazingI have never had a problem and have alway been abl3 to bring my drone. Home. Thank you for the great service.Version: 4.3.42

Improve simulatorYour app is great and your Spark is also great, but please allow the simulator to run without the drone connected. Once, I got confused with the two and watched in horror when the drone lifted off in front of me when I still had 0 experience. Luckily, I managed to land it safely with my skills to just figure things out..Version: 4.3.37

Great app. Love taking aerial shots of my property.I’m going to assume that most of the negative reviews are coming from amateur flies who are causing user error, which is suprising given that that DJI makes their equipment and software basically fool proof. As with any RC vehicle, you should always check to make sure all your calibrations are correct, and to ensure that the climate conditions allow flight anyway. Don’t just send your drone straight up to its maximum height range in the middle of a hurricane, obviously you’ll lose the drone and only have yourself to blame, not the app. Additionally, their drones do not require this app at all to fly. Unless you want GPS or to take photos or video, you can definitely fly your hardware without the app. All in all, I like the app because it’s working just fine for me. Never had an issue, and I also make sure everything is correct before heading for the skies, something that a lot of people here should do more often..Version: 4.3.32

Simply Amazing , Very Easy To Use.I don’t understand all the negative or bad reviews of this app, as a long time user I have never experienced any problems from registering to setting up my multiple drones over the years , The app itself has always worked flawlessly and never experienced any crashes while flying so if you are having trouble make sure that both your app is updated and the firmware on drone itself is kept up to date for fly free worries :).Version: 4.3.29

DJI drone appGreat app, use it on the iPhone and never had any issues with crashing or anything, works flawlessly.Version: 4.3.28
